:headbang:

ok, you know what someone needs to draft a U.N. resolution outlawing anti-trust laws

I MEAN WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!?!?!?

"I'm sorry sir, your company is too succesfull we need to close it down"

as you may or may not realize I'm not very political so if someone could draft this artical...

I would support it fully!

Are you referring to something that's posted on the proposal list, or are you just spewing?

If it's a proposal, post the text here. Otherwise ... WFT did you start this for?

Sir,

If you want a proposal to exist - write it up yourself. There are some excellent guides by Sophista about how to write it up.

Good luck to you, I believe you would have support.

No, antitrust isn't "you're too successful, we're closing you down". It's "you're hurting the customers, we're fining you and making you take corrective action."

Would you like it if Coca-Cola and Pepsi merged? Or if they colluded so Coke and Pepsi both cost $5 a can? Would you like your utility company to charge you $500 a kilowatt-hour? Or if all the big companies ganged up to force small businesses and new start-ups out of business? Well, if you do, enjoy your life, free of antitrust laws!

Meh,

there should be a law more along the lines of.

if the consumer is charged more then 500% mark up from what it costs the company to make it, thats Illegal, but not "your company is so large and powerfull that we need you to close so that smaller less expierenced companies can muscle in on your hard earned market space"

Bewdy - write it up.
Bear it mind that a large part of the cost of anything techy is the R&D expense. Then there's advertising. If you bake those in, I doubt any product comes anywhere near your %.
Still, write it up, and people can haggle over the % later!

But OOC, how would you feel if the US didn't have anti-trust laws and the only soda company makes the one that you can't stand? For me, that would be Pepsi. These laws protect the people and give them a choice.

To make another example, my computer (the one I am typing this message on) is a Hewlett-Packard. Anti-trust laws give others the freedom to choose IBM, Dell, -- I shutter to think -- MacIntosh, or other brands I can't think of at the moment.

If you want free trade, you need to enforce it somehow. All social constructs degenerate into oligarchies if allowed to evolve naturally.

The Conglomerated Oligarchy of Frisbeeteria protests the use of the word degenerate in the prior statement.
