The Compliance Ministry

Nearly an hour and a half ago, my office was contacted and notified that laws were being enacted "to bring the Armed Republic of Dirtyfrank into compliance with the United Nations "Habeas Corpus" resolution."

What laws might these be? We here within the Armed Republic of Dirtyfrank will not go down without a fight!

Yes you will.

(didn't we just go through this a little while ago (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=355659)?)

Go read the UN FAQ (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=faq#UN) (esp. So I'm a UN member. Now what?) and then come back and apologize for wasting our time. It's ok. We'll wait.

like i said.....i received a telegram from the compliance ministry....so i assumed it was a roleplay thing....as i can not go back and change the decisions i made for my country.....

upon read the F.A.Q.'s......for the second or third time mind you......i did not read anything that said i cant roleplay my countries stance and have fun with it.....

Thanks for bein a stick in the mud and pretty much turning me off of this game....as it was starting to get fun....but know it all asses take that fun out of it

Then I would recommend checking the other areas of the FAQs and the stickies on the forums. Some forums are more designed for IC role play, and some are designed for game play. I'll give you a hint, this forum is less designed for IC role play.

* sigh *

Frank, there are currently 4652 topics in the UN forum. Probably 3500 of them are from brand new players, bitching about something that's in the FAQ or the stickies. Some of us have been playing for months or years, and there is nothing we haven't seen before.

Sorry about the smart-ass comments, but I'm tired of it. It's hard to come up with an entertaining role-play about the same stuff over and over again. You asked a question. I answered it. Play or don't play, it's nothing to me ... but like Tzorsland said, there are better places to role-play.

WTF? Is Dirtyfrank clueless about UN proposals being enacted into his country? I'm confused!

Your pissed off because UN laws have been enacted into your nation? Then why da hell have you joined the UN then?

Dirtyfrank, there's nothing wrong with staying in character in the UN forum. I do it myself in most cases (not this one, though). While I cannot speak for the above posters, I think that what they were trying to say is that other forums would be more appropriate for protest regarding a resolution that has already been passed. Perhaps "International Incidents" or something similar.

When I am in character in the UN forum, I am either debating resolutions up for a quorum, resolutions up for a vote, or issues that may eventually become resolutions. Other places exist for the sort of play that you are talking about, and I am certain that you will meet with a lively response if you post there.

And to cut one possible response off at the pass: Do not let the number of posts I've made fool you. I am a reasonably experienced player, and have started a new nation after my old one was deleted for inactivity.

If a new UN law bugs you, you can always resign. Just go to the UN page and there is a c.g.i. button near the top that says, "resign." Just click that and then, if there are any, follow the steps on the page that comes up.

" Britney and Cletus " , heh, must be a new Pop-Folk Band ... ;)

* That said, I think the main reason DF got the response he was given was due to the fact his initial cry of " Hey, I just got his telegram from " x " and about " y " and ... led some players into think " ah, they wan't to know what " x " is in relation o the passing of " y " only to get metaphorically slapped in the face by the next part about " I WON'T GO DOWN WITH-OUT A FIGHT " which probably then led most people to think " Argh. A random ignorant going to rant against the N.S.U.N or blame us other players for thier not liking something " , ( Which mind you does happen to the older players a lot over time. ) .

* Of course, at the " I don't go down with-out a fight " comment, I of course thought " ah, floor-play declaration " which probably speaks volumes of me as being the tabloid mind of N.S.U.N. I suppose  + ;)

All U.N. Members get that telegram to inform them simply that a proposal has passed the open member vote and is now law in all U.N. Member nations ( Hence, it has become a resolution ) . And might I add, compliance due to game rules is of course, taken to be mandatory. So you must obey that law or laws in your nation.

* Which probably explains some people getting angry as I said because of the " I won't go down with-out a fight " comment, ;)

Hope that helps.

If you want to get your old nation back, you can request it back at the Getting Help page (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=help).

This has been an OOC post.

Perhaps our glorious leader could lend his mother in law to the UN, she would make a most effective, if somewhat terrifying, unsettling and downright vindictive enforcer of UN legislation.

ooc: Why are gameplay and roleplay mutually contradictory methods of playing? And can you point to the sticky that says that this forum is not the place for roleplay? Surely if you're giving your country's stance on a current UN motion then you're indulging in RP by default.

It falls under the category of Role Playing, but this forum is more for debating proposals/resolutions than to RP out their effects on your nation.
