We've seen this "conservative" vs. "liberal" idea brought up here on a daily basis. Frankly, my government is convinced that there really isn't such a black and white rule as to define conservative or liberal, so with that in mind ...

One way to find out where nations stand would be for each of our nations to issue a position statement for each of the UN resolution categories:

- All Businesses (All)
A resolution to increase the quality of the world's environment, at the expense of industry.

Human Rights (HR)
- Mild (M)
- Significant (S)
- Strong (St)
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Social Justice (SJ)
- Mild (M)
- Significant (S)
- Strong (St)
A resolution to reduce income inequality and increase basic welfare.

Free Trade (FT)
- Mild (M)
- Significant (S)
- Strong (St)
A resolution to reduce barriers to free trade and commerce.

The Furtherment of Democracy (FD)
- Mild (M)
- Significant (S)
- Strong (St)
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

International Security (IS)
- Mild (M)
- Significant (S)
- Strong (St)
A resolution to improve world security by boosting police and military budgets.

Gambling (G)
- Legalize (L)

A resolution to legalize or outlaw gambling.

While my government supports the basic idea that natural resources are held in a public trust, one of the founding beliefs of the Confederated City States is that the people of NationStates need to work together in order to effectively manage non-rewenable and rewenable resources. Without proper management, the people of NationStates will eventually literally "consume" themselves out of existence. Three prinicipals can be applied on a domestic level in order to curb individual nation's appetites: "Repair, Reuse, Recycle". But the fourth prinicipal is often ignored: Reduce demand.

A poor quota or management practice can be nearly as damaging as no ban or quota, thus care must be taken to consider the secondary impacts of international environmental proposals.

While temporary bans, quotas, and reduction targets are necessary stop gaps to many environmental and resource driven problems, the key to building a sustainable (i.e. long-term) economy lies in the ability to effectively make more with the same or less. Population control issues and consumption limitations are necessary evils, since most environmental problems simply do not recognize the political boudaries we draw on everyday maps.

Analysis:
Green / Liberal State for Environmental Positions, with a focus on long-term sustainability.

Voting Record:
Supports UN transboundary issues, opposed to domestic legislation being adopted in the UN. Currently supported 50%~ of the existing UN resolution.
