My Greetings to All and Sundry,

I would just like to bring my fellow Delegates attention to a worthy Proposal, written by one of the fine Nation States of Wysteria. The Proposal is called "Democide" and it deals with ethnic cleansing and many of its methods, something that is very much the business of the United Nations. The parameters of this Proposal call for a Strong increase to Human Rights. The Final Day for this Proposal is on Wednesday, September 1st and the Text reads as follows:

"Democide is defined as committing any of the following acts, with the intent to destroy:
- The killing of a member or members of a specific group, be it religious, national, racial, ethnic, social, political, etc.
- The causing of serious harm, be it physical or mental to a member or members of the group.
- Imposing conditions of life on the group pre-calculated to bring about the extinction of that group.
- Preventing the birth of children in the group (including forced abortion).
- Transferring the children of one group to another group by force.

Democide, conspiracy to commit democide, incitement to commit democide, attempt to commit democide and any other association with the act of democide are all punishable by the United Nations.

If democide is confirmed to be occurring in a member state, or if there is probable cause that democide is occurring in a member state, the United Nations holds the right to send in supplies, and peacekeeping forces, even if it is against that member state's government's will, to prevent further democide."

I hope that I can count on my fellow Delegates to give this proposal the backing it deserves.

It may just be my reading of it, but that appears to say that harming anyone is democide, since we are all members of one group or another.

Murder is already a crime in my nation. I do not see a purpose in actively seeking legislation that will just create more unnecissary laws. For example, in my nation there are no laws concerning "hate crimes". If someone murders someone that is gay they can be tried for murder, since murder is already illegal. Why waste more government money and energy creating laws that already exist. This does not make since to me or the fine people of The Holy Empire of Cthuulu.
