The Republic of Desertica is proud to announce the introduction of a new resolution for the consideration of our Regional Delegates. The resolution reads:

The Death Penalty Ban

A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Whereas, our systems of justice are flawed, due to human fallibility,

Whereas, innocent people may die due to a death penalty used by our flawed systems of justice and

Whereas, no person of conscious would approve of killing a human being;

Resolved, That we member nations of the United Nations hereby abolish the death penalty.

The Republic of Desertica kindly requests the consideration and suppourt from our Regional Delegates.

It's been tried very recently and it failed to become a resolution once it was put to vote.

For the record, there is a slight gramatical error in the resolution. The forth line should read:

Whereas, no person of conscious would approve of killing an innocent human being;

Currently, the word innocent does not appear. Despite this error, The Republic of Desertica still pleads for the support of the Regional Delegates. The Republic of Desertica was also not aware that this resolution had been tried already, but we think it will not hurt anyone to revisit the issue.

Whilst on the subject of nitpicking - we observe that:
Whereas, no person of conscious would approve of killing an innocent human being;

Probably should read

Whereas, no person of Conscience would approve of killing an innocent human being;

We hope you find this suggestion acceptable.
