My proposal is currenty listen on the UN Proposal list!

Please support it!

(proposal text)

I have recently recieved disturbing news in my nation about the rise in youth gambling. I have seen it is a problem for other nations as well.

Therefore, the Kingdom of Tibetania;

OBSERVING that youth gambling is a serious threat to the societies of UN member nations,

OBSERVING the wide scope of this social epidemic,

Proposes that the legal age to gamble in any casino/gambling establishment within any UN member nation be set to 21 years of age.

1. There's a already a daily issue specifically for this, so this falls well within the domain of a national issue.

2. Youth gambling isn't a threat to our society at all. The kids gambling their allowances are a lot better behaved than some of the adults, in fact.

What's with the recent tumult of gambling proposals? :confused:

Yes there is a daily issue, but it is a weakly written one. You either have the option of letting 8 yearolds gamble or banning gambling altogether. It leaves no room for a compromise. This law would provide such a middle ground.

And by middle ground you mean "if you like letting your kids gamble, bugger off." Somehow, that doesn't seem very neutral to me. Even if this weren't already a firmly established domestic issue, this proposal is just as weakly written as the issue that it attempts to replace.

No, by middle ground I mean that gambling isnt outlawed, as the weak daily issues gives you the option. That or let eight year olds gamble.

Frisbeeterian children may enter the workforce whenever they or their parents deem them able. Most don't start until 11 or 12, and work hours are structured around the subsidised education that is offered by most of our Corporate States. While your children may live in glass boxes until they are 21, Frisbeeterian children have long since been productive citizens with their own income and benefits.

This is a national issue, not an international issue. Please don't propose forcing a substantial, productive portion of our workforce from spending their leisure time (and money) in ways that suit both the workers and the Frisbeeterian economy. We're quite happy with our arrangement and don't need moralistic busybodies telling our citizens how best to live.

Sorry to hear that...oh btw, I'm going to propose a more comprehensive Child Labor resolution... that's after I push this resolution through!

i, as a representative for my country: the holy empire of chademala, see it as a demishment of human rights to disallow gambling. it should be freedom of choice. they can choose to lose their money or not. i live in a VERY free nation and it is working quite well...i think you should start to trust the people of your nation as well. freedoms are great if they do not intrude on other people's freedoms, and gambling does not do so from the experiences that i have seen.
