I not understand what make a dictatorship that have a few human right in their nation in United Nation.

I don't understand...

Not everyone cares about Role Play. Any nation can join the UN no matter what their policies, a lot of us simply don't even notice what kind of nations join the UN.

The real world UN functions in the same way. The Soviet Union was a member of the UN, even when the world was aware of Stalinist purges. Myanmar, notorious for its human rights abuses and sex trade, continues to maintain membership, and Syria, where you get your hands cut off if you're caught stealing, serves of the Human Rights Commission.

You tell me.

Perhaps because...

the UN is not intended to be a centralized government for the global community.

the UN is supposed to be a meeting ground for all nations interested in identifying, and solving GLOBAL issues that affect everyone.

It doesnt matter whether your country is a dictatorship or democracy, there are some issues that affect us all. Whether a dictatorial country requires its people to pay in order to use a toilet is upto them. Whether the global community allows a country to dump its untreated sewage into the ocean or sea is a matter for all of us.

the UN is not intended to be a centralized government for the global community.

The UN is your chance to mold the rest of the world to your vision
the members of the United Nations have been working tirelessly to improve the standard of the world. That, or trying to force other nations to be more like them. But that's just semantics
clearly the UN can infringe on whatever it wants because the option to make such proposals exists.

Saying is shouldn't is one thing, saying it never was is another. Unless Max Barry and Enodia have no idea what they are talking about.

Pardon me.

But I believe in the concepts of the UN, without the rhetoric that it has become both here and in the real world.

I stand by the concept when I say it isnt intended to be such. That is partly the reason why the RL UN is so boggled down with bureaucracy. It gives the appearance of doing something without actually doing something.

And I see that you have been taking Max's tongue-in-cheek things a bit too seriously.

This isn't the real world UN, it does not share the same principals, it was not created to do the same work, it is not bound by the same rules.

It is perfectly fine for you to stick to those principals and even promote them but no one else is obliged to, and this United Nations was not created to support them.

The Holy Empire of Ghetalion viciously rejects this proposal. National sovereignty must be retained for the sake of preventing stagnation, even if it causes friction amongst other nations. Humanity contains the raw elements of prescience that are far too important to domesticate.

True enough.
This UN was not intended to mirror the RL UN.

But I believe it was intended to give people a chance to see government in action, and that is best reflected by keeping some of the basics true to form between this UN and the RL UN.

But aside from all else, lets go back to the whole GAME MECHANICS rule. That one seems to be working real well to deter people from submitting proposals like these.

OOC: As the game does not record what type of government a nation has it can not exclude members from The United Nations based upon the type of government they have.

To make a resolution such as this enforceable the game would have to be re-coded, in other words the game mechanics would have to be changed.

I have a resolution to ban dictatorships up but it needs support and fast. It expires tommorrow. So delegates vote for it now.

Plugging a proposal that goes directly contrary to the facts presented in this thread isn't the best way to make friends. In case you didn't read (which I'm assuming you didn't), banning dictatorial governments is in direct violation of the rule that bars proposals that would change game mechanics. Submission of such proposals is grounds for expulsion from the UN.

I'm almost certain that there is at least one resolution saying that all political systems are welcome in the UN, and that membership is not dependent upon any political style. Rights and Duties of UN states, perhaps?

If this is the case, then this proposal would also be considered an appeal of previous resolution.

I hope this banning of the dictatorships is limited to oppressive dictatorships because although i wont let my people vote, they can sure as hell do almost anything else they want. I say that the UN is being very Dictator-ist. :sniper: Sumitica will not stand for this. :mp5: :sniper: :gundge: :sniper:

Some dictatorships are for the greater good and moral decency. 'Benevolent Dictatorship' is what they call them, and is the perfect form of government. People are given high civil rights but low political freedoms.

The Holy Republic of Seriphyn will not endorse this proposal.
