I urge all delegates to Approve the proposal of United Nations TV and Radio. It seems like a very good idea to bring more life into the U.N. It could also be the subject of some RPs (more interesting than, say, one where you order food, not naming any names).

Hmm . . . if the UN TV and Radio are to be used to educate our world about each other and the going-ons of the UN, then I fully support it.
However safeguards must be put in place so that this TV and Radio doesn't become some sort of government brainwash program

United Nations Radio and TV
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.
Category: The Furtherment of Democracy Strength: Mild Proposed by: Sausage-Recta
Description: Many countries and regions are limited to the programming of their respective areas. In the hopes of having a more well-informed public throughout our world, we hereby propose the formation of a United Nations Radio & Television outlet.
UNTV & Radio would be funded via public donations, minimal corporate sponsorship, and UN funds. All nations under the United Nations umbrella would have free access to voice their opinions and show their programming.
For instance, I'll bet you've all been dying to see "Liliputian Gladiators from Endar"... Or hear Fik Zenka's "What's a Potato?". What!? You've never heard of them? My point exactly!
Approvals: 22 (Atlantic Quays, Sausage-Recta, Drunken Butterfly, The Vorlon Empire, Coolet, Melpomenica, Kiwipeso, Tramuntana, Tuesday Heights, Boohbahstahn, Mauroria, Davisia, The Human Beings, Krygillia, Odphi, Serationik, Placity, Chimpistan, East Fiji, Tzorsland, Jack-a-nape, Dannnnnn)
Status: Lacking Support (requires 113 more approvals)
Voting Ends: Fri Jul 30 2004

As a supporter of this resolution I urge all deligates to carefully think of supporting this resolution. Who among us would not want to share the joy of public radio and TV fundraising to the entire world!
I am sure that most people who are not from the United States would not understand the humor in the mosty bizzare institution called "public" radio/TV. Originally funded in large part through federal dollars, (The corporation for public broadcasting) public radio and public TV stations run their programming commerical free getting almost of their operating funds from voluntary contributions from the listeners/viewers. Some corporations will provide "matching dollars" for new member pledges. Some corporations will also provide underwirting support for programs, but aside from a mention, do not get editorial controll or commerical rights.
National Public Radio, for example, hosts news programs (Morning Edition, All Things Considered), music programs (Performance Today), comedy programs (Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me), social awareness programs (This American Life) and Car Talk (no category want's to admit Car Talk into its ranks).
So please support Public UN Radio and TV today.
Right now.
This minute.
Stop reading this and approve the resolution.
