Yes = Y, No = N.

Where I vote yes, it was either really really really good, or I liked what it might do, no matter that I could write a better version for most of those pretty much, heh, ;)

N = This ws sucky, for a variety of reasons that make a proposal " bad " ... or more likely a load of complete wank. Or I just did not like what it did, or how it did so.

Y / N = Well, maybe, hard to say from memory / now ... Might have voted yes, might have flipped it the bird in a polite fashion on the forum ...

Voting recorded on how I did and/or would have had I been a member at the time, Komokom is not my original nation, I made it once I had an idea what I was doing.

* Like a few short weeks after a friend got me hooked on this darn'd thing, :)

Education for All: no, insufficient and badly worded
UN taxation ban: yes
DVD region removal: Yes, just because it did away with a stupid thing

Hydrogen Powered Vehicles: No, it fails to establish a plan of action

'RBH' Replacement: No, I liked the first one just fine... ((OOC: Let's go Hillary Clinton))
Fair trial: No, this does absolutely nothing...

_Myopia_
27-08-2004, 14:56
This is a record of how I would vote on each of the resolutions passed if I applied my current views. Some objections are on the basis of strong free trade category, even for proposals that I like the description, because as a Civil Rights Lovefest, _Myopia_ tends to be thrown into anarchy by major increases in economic freedom. Note that I very rarely abstain, since if I am very unsure about a resolution I feel it's better to try to avoid its implementation.

Fight the Axis of Evil No
Scientific Freedom No - although I like the sentiment, this doesn't technically do anything (it simply says "if we do x, y will happen), and doesn't make much allowance for ethical restrictions like limits on animal testing.
Education For All YES
UN taxation ban Very topical - Yes, but I would have preferred if it was made clear that the resolution was only ever intended to ban what it said it banned, that is, UN tax collectors visiting individual citizens
DVD region removal Yes
End slavery Yes
Sexual Freedom No - great sentiment, dangerously vague wording that could protect the privacy of, say, terrorist plotting
Citizen Rule Required Yes
Keep The World Disease-Free! Yes
Stop privacy intrusion Yes
Ban Single-Hulled Tankers Yes
Gay Rights YES (although I would have liked to see equal protection for heterosexuals included)
MANDATORY RECYCLING No - it's impractical
CHILD LABOR Yes
Protect Historical Sites No - nice sentiment, but that's all it is, there are no measures
Elimination of Bio Weapons Yes, although I would have liked a definition of biological weapon
Required Basic Healthcare Yes
Hydrogen Powered Vehicles No - it doesn't really do anything
Religious Tolerance Yes
'RBH' Replacement No
Fair trial Yes
Outlaw Pedophilia Yes
Replanting Trees Yes
Metric System Depends - I'd vote for if I thought it wouldn't push me into anarchy, otherwise no
The Child Protection Act Yes
The Universal Bill of Rights Yes
Due Process Yes
Free education Yes

The IRCO Yes This was the first resolution I saw at vote.
Common Sense Act II No
Wolfish Convention on POW Yes
Global AIDS Initiative Yes
No Embargoes on Medicine Yes
Oceanic Waste Dumping Yes
Stop dumping - Start Cleaning No - the solution set out is not the way to go. Should be tax-funded, setting universal penalties is not a good idea, and why on earth are 3 needed per city?!
Freedom of Humor Yes
World Heritage List No - it allows country x to declare all my territory a protected heritage site
The Rights of Labor Unions Yes
Alternative Fuels Yes - despite flaws in the argument, the actual measure enforced is good
Banning the use of Landmines Yes
END BARBARIC PUNISHMENTS Yes
Increased Access to Medicine Yes
Legalise Euthanasia Even though I support the right of adults to choose to die, NO! Damn you Grande, you just wouldn't listen!
Fair Treatment of Mentally-Ill Yes - despite the fact that this definition of mental illness would probably catch some people I wouldn't call mentally ill, the rights it grants should be given to the non-mentally ill too
UCPL No - this threw me into anarchy right in the middle of a regional delegate election campaign, which didn't look good! Plus it demands uniform laws without defining those laws.
Legalize prostitution Yes
Definition of 'Fair Trial' No - parts don't work unless everyone works with the same court system as the RL USA, and some trials shouldn't necessarily be completely open to the media e.g. TV broadcasts aren't necessarily appropriate, as anonymity of defendants must sometimes be protected.
Save the forests of the World No - contains no plan of action and should have been proofread
Rights and Duties of UN States No - it doesn't really seem to do anything other than codify the game mechanics in UN law, whilst reducing my political freedoms
UN Space Consortium No - the damage from the free trade category isn't justified by sufficicent gain for my nation, since I can't really say that my Imploded economy could participate in such a venture.
Children in War Yes
Ballast Water Yes
Universal Freedom of Choice Yes
UN Educational Committee No - doesn't explain where the funding comes from, and the typo which ensured all benefits went to the author
World Blood Bank NO
BioRights Declaration Yes
Reduce Black Market Arms Sales Yes
SPCC Regulation Act No - does absolutely nothing, and contains lots of RL references
The 40 Hour Workweek Yes
Public Domain No - this pushed me back into anarchy!
Abortion Rights No - doesn't really allow for any restrictions whatsoever on abortion rights
Female Genital Mutilation Yes
Freedom of Press Yes
Tracking Near Earth Objects Yes
Refugee Protection Act Yes
Illegal Logging No
Needle Sharing Prevention Yes
Ban Trafficking in Persons I was not present during voting, but would probably have voted yes if I could be assured that this does not conflict with "legalise prostitution" by criminalising running a brothel or receiving payment for sex
The Sexes Rights Law Yes
Banning whaling Yes

The following is a record of actual votes, recorded in edits to this list as resolutions came to vote:

Sustainable Energy Sources Yes
Reduction of greenhouse gases Yes
Habeas Corpus Yes
Law of the Sea No - mainly due to its illegality
No Marriage Under Age of 15 No - cultural and species differences between nations make such a rigid text a poor approach to the problem
The Nuclear Terrorism Act I think I voted yes
Good Samaritan LawsYes
Epidemic Prevention Protocol No - the definition of epidemic was not satisfactory - it did not specifiy that an epidemic has to be a contaigious medical condition, so could allow nations to declare homosexuality or other things epidemics.
Repeal "Fight the Axis of Evil" Yes
Reformed Literacy InitiativeYes
Ban Nuclear Weapons No - non-UN members aren't affected. Failed to pass anyway.
Rights of Minorities and Women Nope
Definition of Marriage yes
Stem Cell Research Fundingyes

Heh well, I was only briefly in the UN in order to get my child labor resolution passed, and I dropped afterwards so it wouldn't affect my nation too much. Really, it was meant to cripple developing economies to make sure they didn't keep up with mine. :P

Stop privacy intrusion: No.
Ban Single-Hulled Tankers: Nope. Got plenty!

Replanting Trees: No.
Metric System: Yes, since it only applies to governments and its a good idea.
The Child Protection Act: No.
The Universal Bill of Rights- No.

No Embargoes on Medicine: Yes. Free trade!
Oceanic Waste Dumping: No. We dump and we're proud.
Stop dumping - Start Cleaning: No. See above.

Legalise Euthanasia: Legalize? Hell sometimes it's mandatory. Yes.
Fair treatment of mentally ill: No, employers are not subject to the laws of psychiatrists.

Legalize prostitution: NO.
Definition of fair trial: Yes, only since it only defines fair trials, not mandates them.

Blank Ballot Code (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=6666733&postcount=2) is now available in Post 2 and post 12.

Mild abuse of new mod powers: Mikitivity, I took the liberty of restoring and replacing a deleted post with the ballot code. Now either you or I can update the ballot at will.
