Hello. I am Knoxbanedoodle of the Incorporated States of Knoxbanedoodle, and I'm looking for two endorsements in order to make my voice heard in the UN. Look, now, I'm very new at this game (like, yesterday) and I don't want to step on anyone's toes here (I don't know if this kind of behavior is verboten), but as advertised in the title of my message it's only nearly shameless. I will not, for instance, lend any support to resolutions that I disagree with.

I just postponed the writing of this message to watch Bill Clinton speak at the Democratic Convention and am now positively atingle with electric political glee. This should tell you something about where I stand on politics and international affairs.

I support gun-control but with a healthy respect for the 2nd amendment.

I support the progressive tax, the protection of the environment, and universal health care.

I support multilateral diplomacy and denounce unilateral, pre-emptive action except in cases of dire and immediate risk.

I support free-trade and public education.

I despise the death penalty.

I support gay marriage, the separation of church and state, the freedom to worship and the free press.

I'm for regulation, not deregulation. I'm undecided on abortion.

So that's basically where I stand. I'd ask you to endorse me because I bring (as I hope is evident from my platform) an active intellect to the table.

Typically to get those first two endorsements, telegram your region's UN Delegate and see if there are other nations in your region that you respect. Two is actually all you'll need to get proposals made, but you are free to talk here even if you aren't a UN Member.

In fact, that is part of what the UN is about. Only part. The other half is actually about offering advise and working with other nations.

I'll try in a few days to list just the names of all the UN categories and then prior UN resolutions. It would be interesting to get a "roll call" vote on how nations would have voted, which would certainly give us a better idea on what sort of resolutions are likely to pass these days.
