By UN convention are flamethrowers and flame weapons illegal for militaries under UN Charter to use?

So far as I know, incendiary weapons are well within the bounds of technology that nations are allowed to employ upon one another. Stricter limits apply to how you use them. For example, smoking a few soldiers out of a pillbox a la Saving Private Ryan is one thing, turning square miles of civilian housing into cinders is quite another.

The nation fo Voroziniya agrees with Sophista. A weapon shouldnt be banned based on its sheer power, but what it damages BESIDES THE ENEMY ARMY. Such as civilians, the environment, etc. And really, any weapon can be used in one way or another to damage such things, but some can be deemed "more likely", such as a nuclear weapon. however, a famethrower can be easily controlled, as well as used only if necissary for safety reasons.

If a nation works hard to obtain flamethrower technology because it believes it will be effective against enemy units, their diligence should be commended, not condemned.
