You know, Alpha Centauri is controlled mostly by Valinon. The ship would probably either be blown away as target practice by the Star Armada, or impounded for being a hazard to system traffic patterns.

Description: The Vimana Engines which we designed are of a peculiar type. First of all, they do NOT enable the vessel to travel faster than light. No, this is beyond our abilities and the laws of science, as told by Professor Albert Einstein.

Technically, this is what the Vimana Engines do :

Let's consider the two stars, Sol (ours of course) and Alpha Centauri.

This is what the Vimana engine does :

What the Vimana engines do, is that they *BEND* space , sort of like crushing the empty space between the two stars, by creating a tunnel. Once the ship has gone through and entered Alpha Centauri, the tunnel is closed, and normal space returns.

I fear though there is one small flaw. I don't like to keep the weaknesses to ourselves, we at New Rossyth seldom do that. There is a slight chance of the tunnel collapsing during the transition (only 5% according to our estimates) , and as a result, the Ship might be stranded somewhere in the galaxy, we cannot tell if the destination will be a Star, a planet, a blackhole or a Pokemon.

As you can see, the Ship requires plenty of experienced crewmen and also the boosters on this thing are really huge. This requires increased Military spending and also a substantial amount of Police protection to prevent any sabotage to the parts and the ship during transport.

But this Project will undoubtedly unify the nations of the world in a common aim .... THE CONQUEST OF SPACE!

I can't actually see how this proposal does * anything * at all except build a space ship and increase military spending as such. Quite frankly, we have our own ships and tech-wank, we don't want to have to buy them for other people. My money, hands off, build your own ships, etc, etc, etc. Some on who can actually be bothered, next please.

* Sleepy. Plus this kind of reminds me of those MSN messenger adds showing starving children in Africa. Which only annoys me, because in that case, I don't have a credit card, the guilt aspect for the nasty 1st worlder which is me falls down, and the image flashing annoys me much while I'm trying to concentrate on important stuff. Like email.

Quite apart from how bad this proposal is, and the fact that introducing future tech RP to the UN is only going to mix stuff up when some of us are still in 2004:

Yeah, this sounds like a viable transport technology to base colonisation efforts on.... :rolleyes:

*sigh*The Valinor work hard for half a millenia to make the Five Worlds of Alpha Centauri their own and this is what they get? Every tinpot space exploration mission gets thrown in our general direction! Now the UN is trying to do it, even after we've withdrawn from the UN they are still trying to bother us. What does it take? Fusion warheads? Mass driver attacks? For the love of God we just want to be left alone to play with our two suns and our five planets.....is that really too much to ask?
If not....well.....the Star Armada does need live fire drills.
