Resolution on Cleaning up Earth

Recently in the world news, Opal Isle Energy Research Department perfected a massive improvement on solar energy. The news can be found here: http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=154175

Opal Isle would like to see a UN resolution requiring nations to move over to SolarMech (or other clean air electricity generation methods) in an effort to clean up our earth. While Opal Isle remains out of the UN for the time being, we are not an anti-UN nation. We support the good that the UN has done for the world, yet feel that our interests are more important to us than the interests of thousands of other nations. On the other hand, this issue is a matter of international importance as pollution effects all of us. We only ask for a short, simple resolution. Oh, a little bribery didn't hurt any one. SolarMech Industries will construct three free SolarMech Generation Stations in the nation that authors this resolution as well as one free SMGS to the five nations that show support for this resolution.

I'm not sure you can cross RPed technologies into UN resolutions. I think you have to keep it real.

I agree, however I think a massive move towards Solar Energy would help A LOT.

Then my suggestion will be make a strong push for solar energy, citing the recently discovered technology in any arguments you make if you are presented with the argument that solar energy isn't effecient enough, etc.

So basically, if it is argued that what you are doing won't work well, you'll use fiction to back up your proposal?

The UN needs to stay in one time RP-wise, and it would be simplest and most sensible to keep it in the present, with only current real-life technologies featuring.

If someone proposes something like this, there's nothing to stop a theocracy from say... 'creating' a machine that 'cures' homosexuals.

It's not an illogical cause/effect chain. So, I would have no interest in voting for a proposal such as this.

Well, an advanced form of solar energy like this may be considered future tech...but it's not that far off in the future...but any way, point taken, I'll not dable with UN stuff any more.

EDIT: And by not that far off, I mean I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of solar technology like this in the next 10-15 years or so.
