Hello everyone, this is my proposal:

Contraception Coverage
Category: Moral Decency Strength: Strong

Description: This proposal will give insurance company's, religious organizations and businesses the legal rights to refuse coverage or not provide coverage at all on contraceptions.

It should be noted that sex is a choice and with choice comes responsibility which may be the financial cost of providing your own contraception.

This act will:
Give insurance company's the legal rights to refuse coverage on contraception.
Give religious organizations and company's the right to refuse this type of coverage.

We feel that sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies are to great a burden on society to ignore. In the case of pregnancy, the cost of teaching someone responsibility could involve ruining another's life. We feel this is to great a price.

We will not be supporting your proposal.

Contraceptives should be easily accessible; period.

Why should a persons choice to have sex be at the cost of businesses and why should organizations who are against contraceptives be forced to provide coverage on what they beleive is an immoral practice? It is unfair and unjust. Again, sexual intercourse is a choice of an individual and company's should have the right to not provide coverage on this persons choice.

Because the government is left to pick up the pieces.

I said they are to be easily accessible - never said "free."

This could be expanded a little and reclassified as Civil Rights legislation.

"Organizations of any type are allowed to provide any level or combination of employment benefits."

The market will penalize organizations with sub-standard benefits.

1a) Low-balling companies will have trouble hiring quality people.
1b) Turnover will be higher as employees depart to better companies.
This is expensive in terms of training and recruiting costs.

2 ) Less healthy employees have more sick days.
This is expensive in terms of productivity as less competent replacements try to cover for missing employees.

With no government regulations companies frequently offer smoking cession programs, gyms, etc. The big three auto firms are about as blue-collar as it gets, and they all offer benefits to domestic partners.

Basic contract law should prevent organizations from cutting benefits to people who are actively engaged in a course of treatment.

The only room for government I can think of would be for emergency room coverage. You can't go comparison-shopping for hospitals with a length of iron pipe through your abdomen.
