Desdemona steps up to a podium that has conveniently appeared.

"Friends since I have arrived here I've had so much fun debating issues and getting drunk but I feel that it is time for me to take my leave. Recently The UN has made me feel slightly depressed and it has come to the point where I feel that I can not represent The Black New World and my Queen Rosalind in the manner that they deserve.

"In my place will be the wonderful Giordano. You may have seen him already, correcting people I didn't have time too. I think he will make a wonderful addition to The Strangers Bar furniture, even if he is a little less flirtatious then me. He will continue to support issues that are important to The Black New World so those of you that where hoping our policy had changed with the delegate, better luck next time.

"I will continue to dabble in my nations politics but only as Lady Desdemona of Merwell. Coincidently if anyone, especially Thackeray, wants to come and stay in the hall they are more then welcome too.

"I guess that's all, I'll miss you, bye."

With tears rolling down her cheeks, like the old cliché, Desdemona exit's the hall.












As the door closes a banner is released
"Do you know what gay science is?"

Stephanie immediately took the podium.

"The Council of Enn wishes to thank Desdemona for her long commitment to the United Nations. Along with that, I would like to personally wish Lady Desdemona of Merwell luck in her future life. My compatriot Hannah will be returning to the region, and will likely see you in the future.
"Once again, thank you, and good luck."

Stephanie stepped down from the podium, and eyed the massive banner. She saluted it, then turned back to the Strangers' Bar, with Giordano in tow.

"Do you know what gay science is?" she asked him as they neared the doors.

Giordano turns to Stephanie.

"Yes, it is a sigh of how hopeless humanity really is. Or maybe it was just a spelling mistake."

The Telidian government wishes the honourable lady from The Black New World every success in her new endeavours. We regret her departure and have noted her comments on many subjects, which was often insightful and thought provoking.

We would also like to extend a warm welcome to her replacement, Giordano and look forward to dealing with the new representative in the future. We wish the new representative every success in living up to a worthy reputation.

* He drains a glass of champers, quickly jumps clear of the podium, and hurries on after Giordano and Stephanie to the Strangers Bar for refills.

We are saddened to hear the news of Desdemona's retirement. In our time in the UN we have rarely encountered a figure of such integrity, humanity and calm common sense. We strongly trust that her replacement will take her as a model for the exacting duties of the post.

Minister of Personal Development Thackeray Sung is currently making up for the loss of his beloved Stranger's Bar with a fact-finding mission to the religious community of the Watfordshire Clublands, but as soon as he gets back, puts on some trousers and stops giggling, he will be sure to pay a diplomatic visit to the Black New World.
