The UN is a sinking ship, and i'm not ready to drown.

I've sat by for too long and said nothing about the course this organization is taking...straight down the cliched tubes. Why should my, or anyone else's nation be ordered around and have laws enforced upon it that are horribly flawed!? Many of these resolutions being written up are incredibly poorly worded, full of holes, dabble in ambiguity, and are roughly as vague as Carly Simon's song "You're So Vain." Only she and maybe a few others know who she wrote that song about, and the same applies to these resolutions. What's worse, is that no one else seems to notice! Based on the amount of votes I see that are "For" a hole riddled resolution, there has to be thousands who are reading the title of the resolution, and nothing more. I can't deal with this and no one else should be subjected to it. At least in the United States Congress one of a Senator or Representative's aids read a bill and inform their boss about its contents. That's not the case at all here though! I'm through with this organization and if anyone would care to join me, now's the time! So finally, with a call for a complete boycott of sorts from the United Nations, I resign with no intent upon return.

Maybe so, but hardly anyone is going to boycott it, so in the meantime, it's better to stay in and have a say in these issues, rather than letting a minority impose them on us.

Well, given the fact that there are 113,700 nations in the world, and only 35,196 are in the U.N.... now.. Last time I checked my math, that means only 30% of the world is in the U.N..... Now.... hehe.... Um, that sounds to me like a boycott... Let me think... some conversation comes into mind here from ol' Pre-Mandela South Africa.....

"Excuse me Prime Minister Boltha..... Now.. Let me get this right... there are 100,000 white people here, and 14,000,000 black people? Um... have you ever heard of the name Custer?"

I suspect that most of the remaining 70% are puppets, which obviously can't be in the UN.

Part of the problem is:

A) people don't participate in the resolution-creation process, creating a vaccuum for others of all qualifications (and lack thereof) to step in. Don't like the issues that come up? Make your own, and compete in the marketplace of ideas.

B) people don't participate in the resolution-development process, and so dumb, badly worded resolutions are not defeated at that stage, nor improved upon by criticism, and so become proposals that get to the voting stage, where we have to deal with them. This is why communities wake up to discover that fringe interests with an axe to grind (or no life, meaning energy to spare) have gotten organized and suddenly a proposal to turn the town into, say, a game reserve for small pets is up for a vote.

C) IMO, apart from Compliance Ministry tax hikes, nobody enforces UN resolutions.

D) also IMO, nobody has taken charge of the UN and studied its history. We have online all the UN proposals ever passed here -- many of the new ones are just repeats, badly-worded, of proposals that have passed again and again. What's the result? Tax hikes, and nothing changes.

It's a lot like the Earth UN, just worse, because nobody is paying attention to history and the system caters to those with free time, rather than those with wisdom and experience -- capitalism requires monetary reward to make such effort, although obsessive drive or zealotry will also do. LOL!

The person who takes advantage of insight D will effectively control this game -- but who has the time?

I can see it, but I don't have the time, nor want the power.

That's my rant for the day, thanks for the soapbox time.
