THE REMOVAL OF TARIFFS

Euro-States
07-06-2004, 16:38
The Federation of Euro-States proposes that all UN members immediately remove all existing tariffs on goods and services in order to facilitate free trade. This would encourage further investment in all member economies and facilitate sustained economic growth at the same time. Such a move would be to the benefit of society as a whole.

I urge all UN delegates to see this resolution put to a wider vote and allow for the complete abolition of trade tariffs. A single market for UN nations would be desirable in the future and we see this as a first step towards such a move as part of an incremental approach. However, we do recognise that a full free trade agreement may be a step too far for some and see any progress as positive.

So, please support us!

On second thought...considering how effing stupid sooo many UN members are and their demonstrated willingness to vote YES on just about anything without thoroughly reading the resolution, you might just have a good chance at getting this thing passed!

There's still time to support this!

I already tried to passs a more detailed version of this, that was much more gradual.

Didn't pass.

We decided the UN cannot force its economic opinions on the member states. Great debates back then. There was this one country, a socialist, that really was a good opponent.

Forget her name...
