"Victims of Communism
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.
Category: Human Rights Strength: Significant Proposed by: Mattavutu
Description:
Whereas the Communist systems of the world sought (and in some cases continue to seek) the subjugation individual free will and indenity to serve the needs of a corrupt collectivist state
Whereas the denial of the rights of private property and to transact freely on the open market have led to a denial of political rights and the deprivation wherever the communist system has reigned
Whereas all aspects of life from early education to civil society have been dominated by the propaganda and manipulative whims of a single Party bent on the accumulation of power at the expense of individualsm, free thought, and human rights
Whereas over 100 million have died from communist oppression
Whereas we have many times rightfully commemorated the victims of Nazi opression and sought to expose the horrors of Nazism.
and Whereas many millions throught out the world are ignorant of the history of Communism and the widespread suffering it inflicted on those it pretended to liberate,
BE IT RESOLVED, the this UN with funding from ALL member sates shall erect a memorial and museum to commemorate the victims of Communist oppression and fund a mass education campaign to educate people on communist attrocities from Stalin's purges and the Gulag Archipelago, to Mao's Red Guards and the present day horros being perpetuated from Havana and Pyongyang and thus help preserve individual freedom throught the world by seeing to it that history never forgets the horror of 1917-1991.
Voting Ends: Wed Jun 9 2004"
currently you find it on page 15.
We found this proposal and we think it deserves support since communism has caused more horrors and damage to countries and the world than any other ideology, even more than Nazism (well: it lasted shorter - but communism (e.g. Stalinism, Maoism, Pol Pot) was at least almost as bad as national socialism, fascism)).
Therefore we think that the victims deserve respect as well and deserve to be honoured. The crimes of communism shall not be forgoten to prevent the repetition of it.
We urge you to support the proposal.
Sincerely yours
