Hey there, long time no see!

Remember me? I was very active here, thinking this was the best place to post on the NS forums. And it was, we had some lively and interesting discussions. I was planning on proposing a sweeping consolidation of all previous UN resolution that would clean up the inconsistencies and contradictions. Alas, it never happened.

Then, after a spurt of doing nothing, I resigned from the UN. Why? Here is the semi-rant that is meant to be an intelligent catalyst for change, not a flame or sarcastic poll.

First, UN members are sometimes shooting down intelligent proposals by claiming they are overstepping the UN's power, then they pass such laws as the 40 hour week, and vote for such resolutions as the abortion one which are national issues,

OOC NOTE: I am not saying I am pro-life. Different matter.

Second, people seem to have made the UN irrelevant. There is nothing the UN does to overly belligerent nations. All the resolutions are in a seperate world, floating free from the rest of NS. The entire UN is.

And, no conclusion, just what I said above. Which is why I resigned.

OOC: Hi Max!

EDIT: Took out "In all matters of war in the NS world, the UN never tries to help meditate a solution, it is always non-UN nations that help create a truce or ceasefire in conflicts," as it is irrelevant. I just want an intelligent debate about how to make the NSUN relevant and true to it's purpose.

The NSUN's purpose isn't mediation in conflicts, and never has been.

That is not the point, the point is that it is irrelevant to the rest of the NS world, and that it is contradicting itself in its powers.

Though of course, why can't it become involved in wars and such? There is nothing that says it shouldn't.

The only thing that controls how much power the UN has is game mechanics and the will of it's members. That's how the UN works.

Exactly. I am trying to influence the will of the members towards a more relevant UN.

Relevant to what, exactly? Since all UN resolutions are universally enforced, I don't exactly see how it could be irrelevant. As far as I can see, 'irrelevant' is code for 'doesn't vote how I want it to'.

OOC: Okay, I am getting attacked here. For the record, I agree IC and OOC with most of the resolutions passed. I just feel that the members of the NSUN could do more to make the UN more... of a global, intelligent body. I don't feel I can make the more clear. Reh, I am not being an flamer against those who propose resolution I disagree with. Just read what I wrote, not more into it.

I think that there should be multiple UN-like orginazations.
