RE: "Repeal All Previous Decisions" UN resolution

I would recommend all UN members to vote FOR the resolution to repeal all previous decisions. I notice that UN nations always rank very low on the categorized rankings that are put out daily. UN resolutions are holding back the economies and freedoms in member nations. If all previous resolutions were repealed it would allow new member states an opportunity to shape the character of the UN, as well as giving veteran states the choice to undo the mistakes made in the past.

Interesting idea. I've been very upset with recent UN decisions, and I'll be voting for the resolution.

You may want to read this thread:

Announcement: Before you make a proposal... (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=77286)

Proposals to repeal or amend past resolution are generally considered game mechanics proposals and deleted by the mods. You may be especially interested to read the portion of the policy where nations submitting repeal proposals may be ejected from the NSUN. I don't have any official authority in NationStates, but I suppose it's friendly enough to offer such a warning in the form of advice.

This is B.S. The real U.N. has very little influence over what countries do.

Just look at how effective it was in stopping the U.S.A from invading Iraq. Come on. . . These resolutions should only be of the symbollic nature and optional. These game mechanics blow.

Well Mosaic Oa, if you don't like the way the UN works here, theres the door, don't let it hit you on the way out.

I laughed for about five minutes stright when I saw this proposal in the list. Sorry, I really shouldn't have, but I just couldn't help myself.

When you think about it, this is quite strange. Why should the Un not be able to repeal or amend a proposal? The members of the UN change all the time, as do their oppinions.

Foor example, look at the first UN resolution, the Fight the Axis of Evil one, it was adopted with a total of 2 votes against 1. Surely that can not represent the current opinion in the UN?

I think it is a bad thing that there is no way to repeal past proposals.

There would have to be some new code introduced to make a repeal actually work. And since there isn't then it's game mechanics and is against the rules.

The resolution has been removed. I guess some ideas are just to 'out there' for the UN. Maybe the idea was a bit out in 'left field.' Maybe it was a little 'radical.' But then maybe if you could talk to the real people living under the tyranny of the UN resolutions of the past...hundreds of nations pressed into a mold of conformity, our governments paralysed by increasingly invasive UN policy you'd understand why the Resolution to Repeal all previous decisions was a good one.

Maybe some resolutions can't be enforced because of game mechanics.

you pooplits... the UN is stinking up the place like an old mattress. The mere fact that a nation was kicked out for proposing such a noble idea is beyond proposterous!!!! I for one feel the UN sould give a public appology and beg for fogeiveness! This is more than any nation should expect for suggesting something so drastically needed as a "wiping of the slate" of this "UN".

I invite the representative from The Billhamas to view the topic titled "Before you make a proposal" located at the top of the list of topics, and then reconsider the above statement. The fact is and will always be that repeals are a blatent violation of the rules and the offenders will be punished.

What's with everyone wanting to ammend or appeal? Don't you realize this isn't the * gasp * real UN? Besides, which, why can't you understand that the coding it would take to "repeal" or "amend" would practically shut this game down at the present time?

From what I've heard, [violet] is working on the coding for the process which will allow UN members to appeal amendments, and while I wouldn't want such a daunting task on my own shoulders, it hasn't, and likely won't, shut the game down.

I don't know, the way the forums work (or don't work :) ) now, implementing repeals just might crash the game.

And besides I posted my previous comment before I saw the news that [violet] was working on repeals.
