The following is the text from the Universal Freedom of Choice resolution passed Friday March 26 2004.

1) Urges all members of the United Nations to recognise that a populace granted the freedom to make choices in life is a happier, more content and more productive society

The Mimimum Wage proposal which is close to getting enough endorsements to put it to a vote states the following...

All Employers in all UN member nations must pay to all their workers at least half the median earnings of all male employees in that nation.

Currently employees and employers have the choice to set wages at any level they chose. If the UN were to pass the Minimum Wage Resolution, they would not be urging Member Nations to recognize that a populace granted the freedom to make choices in life is a happier more content and more productive society. In other words we would be repealing an existing resolution which is if I am to understand things correctly not allowed.

Oh for crying out loud ...

Right. I am not even going to bother except to say :

If your so darn'd sure that this is finally ( Ha. ) going to make us agree with you, why not you go in a very polite fashion, telegram Tactical Grace, the person who wrote your "proof" and invite them to come here and provide their opinion. I would respect their opinon, not only are they a Moderator, but they also wrote your "proof" so I am sure their statement would end the matter or provide you with some shred of credibility in this matter.

Oh, and lastly,

Its passed, you cannot repeal it, and I am starting to wonder if Moderation Staff have or are going to warn you for these continued threads. I really do think the issue is bordering on spam now.

Please, think at least about what I have proposed. :?

For all our sakes ?

The minimum wage proposal has passed? I hope not. The idea of a minimum wage is a bad one, in our opinion. We will vote against this proposal should it reach the floor for a vote.

This is a totally absurd question. The resolution simply "urges" UN nations to "recognise" that people will be happier if they are allowed to make choices. It doesn't say "THE UN SHALL BE HEREBY PREVENTED FROM MAKING ANY DECISION WHICH MIGHT POSSIBLY RESTRICT SOMEONE'S FREEDOM". It doesn't even:

1) urge UN members to allow people to make choices (it merely says that they would be happier if you did).
2) urge the UN as a body to do anything at all (it merely suggests a course of action for UN members).
3) actually suggest any deliberate action of any kind.

It merely says "if you are a UN member, you would make people happier if you let them have freedom".

the US federal goverment does many studies every year. here is some of them:

Male vs Female wage differences:

they found an average of a male - 100% and female 79% wage earning average. ie: females earned on average 79 cents to a dollar that a male earned doing the same job with same experience.

Male vs Female "seniority" difference:

if a male works a job he can expect an average of 55 hours of work on the job a week over the course of a year. the average female only garners an average of about 35. that means for every year a female works she gains less "experience" or "on the job time" than a similar male will.

Male vs Female work/attendance:

if the male were the 100% average then females would be working an average of 72-73% of the amount of time the male would be working. this means that for equal pay for equal job would put the average female at about 72-73 cents on the dollar as a similar male with similar experience once you account for the hours-year differential.

so right now in all actuality in the USA women are paid more for the same job as men are. once you correct females working less hours in a year and having less experience than an equivalent male it comes to that females are making 1.27-1.29 to the males 1.00
