Rough Draft(unsubmitted pending NSUN response):Cannabus

Just an idea that I'm attempting to hammer out.
Legalisation of Cannabus.
Human Rights
Mild
Realizing that it is up to individual nations to decide their positon on drugs, but
Recognizing that many more free nations would like an oppurtunty to express their views.
It shall henceforth be decreed, that the possition,use,and sale of cannibus will be made legal in all UN facilities, including embassys, and any other areas under DIRECT control of the UN(not member states)
It is belived by us that this will promote human rights by exposing people within repressive nations, without actually violating their sovergnty.
Please inform us of any glaring errors, arguments, or other problems with this proposal now, so that we may change it before submitting it. Thank you.

The last thing we want are delegates and representatives attending debates and other events while under the influence. While recreational use is one thing, I think we can all agree that no one should consume the drug while working, be they diplomats or electricians or whoever. Without even getting into the jurisdictional arguments, health arguments, soveriegnty arguments (because UN embassies are, in fact, on the territory of the nation hosting them. Extraterritoriality only applies to embassies between formal nations), this proposal should be rejected for that reason alone.
We have enough idiots in the forums. Do we really want stoned idiots in the forums?

You have brought up some very good points Sophista. We were unaware of the nature of UN embassies, for one. However in our defense we would like to state that stoned idiots tend to be much more calm and docile.

Okay. We'll grant you calm and docile. Certain proceedings would go on a bit smoother if we didn't have to worry about the representative from Baghum charging in and ranting about mothers-in-law. But they'd be idiots all the same, and likely get lost in the miles and miles of hallway. Perhaps you should sanction a smoking lounge instead? A place where off-duty diplomats can go and enjoy the finer blends under supervision?
Ah yes, I can just imagine the day every sober, or at least not high representative will cringe, at the words,
" Like, dude, wheres my proposal ? "
Or
" Hey, this thread could make a great bong ! "

We agree with the comments made by the representative form Sophista. Whilst we have made comments before on the use of recreational drugs in previous debates, I believe this is a matter every nation must decide for themselves. In any case I am sure that every nation will at some point have to make a decision on an individual basis when this issue becomes under debate in their individual nations.
(OOC: There is a game issue that covers this for individual nations, I can’t see a reason for the UN to cover this aswell. Besides you will find it’s quite a contentious issue.)
Respectfully
Lydia Cornwall, UN Ambassador
HM Government of Telidia.

Hell, half of us are drunk already, judging by the Stranger's Bar.
Anyone want some Rian'laich? A drink that not only has a sell-by date but a corrode-the-bottle-by date?

(Sir Stanislavski whisling) "Doobie doobie doo" huh? oh sorry! yes we agree with Sophista in that there is no need for this during on duty time.
It's bad enough some nations would rather put a camera in your private abode and nail you there for a victimless "crime" and then turn around and give them real fuel for their oppressive practices and views.

I'm not sure I want to know what "victimless crime" the representative from Polish Warriors is referring to, but I apprecite his support all the same.

Given the vast spelling errors, even between words repeated in the same proposal, I'm thinking someone might have been high whilst writing this. Examples include but probably aren't limited to:
Cannabus --> Cannabis
Cannibus --> Cannabis
embassys --> embassies
possition --> possession
sovergnty --> sovereignty
At any rate, I doubt delegates from "repressive" nations would own the stuff, and would probably be the ones who lobbied for its elimination in the first place. Moreover, the UN is about alleviating human suffering, not enhancing human pleasure within its confines. I think the UN should turn its gaze outwards towards more worthwhile endeavors.

Psh. It's not like spelling and grammar are important. Crimany, we only passed a resolution mandating that all future resolutions be gramatically correct, and who cares about those silly passed resolutions anyway? Its not like it's a violation of the rules to contradict previous resolutions.

Daniel M. Hillaker

And for those who are new here, and know not of Sophista and their lovable and, shall we say, surgically precise use of sacasm and witty wording,
USE THE SPELL CHECKER OR BE DARN'D !
Or we kill your head. Think about it.

We would like to point out that this is not even a full resolution yet, and due to the extremely negitive response given within this forum, likley never will be. We simply put this up to gague response to the idea, and given that it is overwhelmingly negative, have decided to bow out before that frying pan gets anywhere near us.
