Catagory: The Furtherment of Democracy
Strength: Strong

Recognizing a proliferation of regions containing only 1 or 2 NationStates

Seeing that this is causing and inflationary rise in regional delegates, as well as, major disruption to the flow of UN Legislation.

We Propose the following,

1. That in order for a region to be entitled to a Regional Delegate it must contain at least 3 NationStates and at least 2 UN endorsements.

2. If a Region contains more then 3 NationStates for a Nation to be selected as the Regional Delegate, a Nation must Recieve a minimum of 10% of possible UN Endorsements or 2 UN Endorsements whichever is greater.

Once upon a time there was a proposal that violated game mechanics. And the nation of Sophista prayed very loudly that some extra-planar diety would smite whatever nation doesn't read the rules, and spare us their existance. The end.

* Note :

1) I would love to alter game mechanics in a similar way ...

2) Ironically, I must agree with Sophista.

* Hands Sophista a frying-pan.

Proposal Withdrawn Due to the Issue Falling into the Realm of game mechanics. (Notes that So many things seem to fall into this realm and seem to work on making the ingame UN less Effective of a governing body then the Real UN)

1) Thanks to Malagonia for sensible action.

2) Too tired to decide on agreeing or not to their comment on the U.N.

The end.However, the Freedom of Humour Resolution changed that, it effectively cut off the Mods ability to cancel Resolution if they were purely humourus.

I think this would actually harm the larger regions, like my nation's home -- the North Pacific. 10% of the possible UN endorsements for a region in a feeder region is a tall task.

That just means we're like the real UN. We legislate ourselves into a corner, and then wonder why we can't get anything done.

Hrm. Someone should make me delegate of their region, that way I can have a reason to browse the proposals aside from needing to laugh my ass off every once in a while. Oh wait! They can't! I don't have the majority of votes, let alone ten percent! Blast that game mechanics rule!

Oh. Yeah. Sure.

So the great [violet] just shot out of a cloud of smoke and said :

" Thou Shalt Not DEAT The Funny's, On Pain of U.N. Resolution Violation ! "

Uh-huh. Because failing that, the moderators will DEAT what they shall DEAT, with reason. Their reason. Thats why we have them. That and their cute button noses. And cause one has a giant sword, and it goes ...

- THWACK -

... ( Silence ) ... :wink:

The serious argument : Any proposal / resolution enfrocing limitations on Moderators powers would I think be game mechanics, and while passed, such limitations are automatically denied and defunct.

I think.

Well, not all limitations. Because lets face it, if I were a moderator, I'd be deleting people left and right, without regards for these simple "rules" you keep referring to. You need something to keep people in check when they've got power, although screw you if you want a humorous proposal. The only thing funny about the UN is how easy the entrance exam is.

But fortunately, the UN doesn't make the rules that govern the mods!

That's because most members of the UN can't spell the words govern or moderator, and we always nail 'em on that proper spelling thing. But just you wait. They'll get smarter eventually, like the raptors in Jurassic Park.

Yes, and then, we'll just shoot them.

See, but they tried that. Remember the scene where Robert Muldoon (played by British actor Bob Peck) was in the woods hunting them so Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern, of I Am Sam fame) could make it back to the Visitor's Center safely? He didn't get a single shot off before one of the other raptors ate him.

You don't want to see your moderators eaten, do you?

This isn't something to take lightly. Not even Ben can pull this one off. There's only one way to fix things when the raptors get out of hand.

Anyone got a T-Rex handy?
