Joint project proposed: nuclear defense system

The Republic of Turd Furguson feels that the growing risk of nuclear proliferation is the most imminent danger to the world's population. It is also strongly believed that the only point in which people will stop using weapons is when they are made obsolete. With this said we have begun research of any possible nuclear defense system whether land based or satellite based. We have intentions of disbursing the technology at full development with hopes that if all nations can stop nuclear missiles then all nations will no longer consider using them. Unfortunately we are but a fledgeling nation but politically and economically, so we need help. If anyone wants to help us pursue this goal, or even push a resolution through the UN, it will be greatly appreciated. :)

Nuclear defense systems are spectacularly expensive and highly unreliable.

Furthermore, they give the dangerous false impression that it is possible to have a winnable nuclear war. With the threat of mutually assured destruction gone (even if this is only an illusion), nations will be much more willing to throw nuclear weapons about.

Because of this, we would much rather see non-proliferation treaties and commitments to peace, rather than expending billions on the propping up of a siege mentality.

This will only lead to another nuclear arms race, as nations create missiles that can evade the defences, and defences are improved, and new missiles are made, etc. etc.

Also, how is a missile shield going to stop anyone using small radiological and nuclear weapons brought in secretly on the ground?

The glorious nation of Bahgum is pleased to say that we have solved the problem of nuclear arms. Upon any sign of international discord, we dispatch a squad of the dreaded Bahgum Mothers in Law. Upon arrival they (naturally) interfere with a nations government to such an extent that the launch of a nuclear strike (indeed preparing your cornflakes in the morning unaided even) becomes impossible.
As our esteemed leader is keen to pay for his own mother-in-law to see the world, we are more than happy to extend our services to friendly nations.

Good points have been made detracting from my idea, but I disagree with proliferation to a certain extent, because when everyone starts getting rid of their guns the guy with the last gun wins all fights.
So I through my support behind bahgum, it appears to be our only choice. :D

In its simplicity, and rediculessness, it is brilliant. Not only will any government be able to laucnch a nuke, they could all strave to dabel to gt there cornflakes!!!!

I am immiediatly enacting a nation drive to recrute nosy mother-in-laws to fight for world peace. I urge you to do the same!!!!

Ending the threat of mutually assured destruction is a sure-fire way to mutually destroy everyone. Think of the number of nations who have proven themselves to be irresponsible, short-term thinkers who's desire to impress and threaten trumps their faculties of reason and logic. Do you really want to give them the idea that they're even more invincible? I think not. We Sophistans have enough to worry about without a constant view of mushroom clouds on the horizon.

You think that is threatening. The nation of Big Jewman will send hundreds of JEWISH GRANDMOTHERS. If the nuclear program persists, we may even be forced to send in JEWISH mother-in-laws.

Bahgum is encouraged by the proliferation of wise nations present here. Perhaps some mutual exchange visits are in order with the land of the Jewish grandmother? With the methods they can teach other, no government would dare step out of line again!!!
