Japanese anime cartoons are ruining our childrens minds. Children are getting poisoned by this plague. Some shows like Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh are teaching kids that animal "cock fights" are the was to solve problems. Also the trading cards are depleating our kids of their money. These shows and cards get children hooked and then they can't stop thinking about them. They are causing our children to do poorly in school and in other places. Some think that they should not go to school because they can live just fine by traviling the country and making animals fight each other.
So please help ban Japanese Anime from our community

What are you talking about, I have watched both of these shows and have not ever seen a cock fight on either one.

Also the trading cards are depleating our kids of their money.

If it's the kids's money why shouldn't they be allowed to spend it on what they want.

These shows and cards get children hooked and then they can't stop thinking about them.

I know a lot of adults who are watch these shows too. What's your point?

They are causing our children to do poorly in school and in other places.

Do you have any proof of this?

Some think that they should not go to school because they can live just fine by traviling the country and making animals fight each other.

And again I ask, where's your proof?

So please help ban Japanese Anime from our community

Ban it from your own nation, because The Rogue Nation of Flibbleites will NEVER support a ban on anime (our Grand Poobah likes it too much)

A little one-sided to base your opinion of an entire genre on one show, don't you think?

Sure, it's not exactly brain food, but there are plenty of Western cartoons just as bad. (In any case, Rehochipe doesn't have any TV stations so we're disinclined to care very much).

What a ridiculous proposal. I have watched and enjoyed several Anime movies and series that were better-made and more sophisticated than most western movies. Just because a few kiddie-animes are retarded doesn't mean the whole genre should be banned.

Please do not support this proposal. A television show cannot ruin a child's mind or instill indecent values. Children look up to and take thier values from their parents. If these children are so easily influenced then maybe their parents should be more concerned with how they raise their children.

The Principality of Léonne will never support a United Nations resolution that restricts our people from their choices of free speech, thought and media. Censorship is a national issue.

In the nation of Bootai-Bootai and in most democratic nations, this sort of censorship isn't even a governmental issue- it is a parenting issue. Quite frankly, the parents of Bootai-Bootai are quite good at their job, and they need no assistance from the government of The Skyline.

Besides, how are you going to differentiate between anime and non-anime cartoons? Are we just going to ban all animation coming out of a single nation (which, I might add, doesn't even exist in the world of NationStates) or shall we just ban cartoons altogether?

And how shall we enforce this resolution? Shall we conduct "anime raids" where we send police forces into underground anime rackets and detain those vile criminals who are commiting such unspeakable crimes as drawing animations of Pikachu pooping out lightning bolts?

*Ahem* In general, Bootai-Bootai does not support any resolution that unduly restricts personal or corporate liberty, as this does. Bootai-Bootai also urges other UN member states not to support such resolutions in the future.

Anime is the last refuge of creativity. Everything else is mass market. (Your kiddy shows can be dismissed out of hand)The good stuff is still out there...in Japanese. No dubs, please.

The United Socialist States of Mucusburgia must categorically reject this proposal and forcefully state our intention to vote nay should this measure ever be brought before the body of the U.N. This poorly thought out proposal would clearly be a gross violation of the right to free speech, and as such would be unacceptable under our nation's constitution. It is also our opinion that no strong case was made to suggest that anime is, in fact harmful in any way. Nor do we feel that this issue is appropriate for disscussion by this august institution, but we do recognize the sovreign right of evry nation to decide such issues for themselves.

i dont think this needs to be a UN resolution but i think it would be a good issue for individual nations to decide

Honestly I am appalled at this. I collect Anime myself. I've found that many of the series have more thought out plotlines than western movies. Evangelion for example, or Serial Experements Lain both have highly involved plots with a great deal of metaphor and symbolism involved. As for your topic of card games, children will be children. If its not one craze it will be another. I play Magic the Gathering myself, a trading card game that has nothing to do with TV. I've been doing it since third grade. If you're going to try and force an issue like this I would suggest that you look into your topic a little more, and provide a little bit of supporting detail. Perhaps you might like to say that some anime is extreemly violent. Well yes it is. But other anime, like Spirited Away or Kiki's Delivery Service are lighthearted children's movies. You have to look at them in context of the age group that was intended. We have R movies here, and we have G movies. The same holds true for anime.

I don't personally like anime, but I'd never go to banning it outright. The only anime that Defaultia has banned is the porn ones. Most japanese cartoons are no worse than western cartoons(just look at Spongebob, that's about as annoying as Pokemon, except it's only in mass market stage I). You might as well say ban the military because it "teaches" people to kill. I can't support this proposal. This is an individual choice, not a UN one.
