Perhaps some of you have seen my proposal on enacting the old geneva convention. Established in 1950, it's been pretty much the document explaining the rules of war since then. Anyways, seeing this, I decided to propose a...proposal on it. Please support it, it will better wars on NS for POW's and civilians.

Here's the exact proposal:

REALIZING that many civilians and POWs are mistreated by authoritiative and non-authoritative governments alike.

WISHING to end this mistreating.

PROPOSES that at this time the United Nations support the articles of the Geneva Convention relative to the treatment of prisoners for war. These provisions, supported by over 150 nations already, have helped govern the rules of war since 1950. With the UN implamentation, POW and civilian rights during wars everywhere will be protected.

The exact articles can be seen here: http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/91.htm

We already have a piece of legislation protecting POWs - the Wolfish Convention on POW.

But has everyone signed it? And is it UN legislature?

Ahh. I must have missed that one when I was reading through the old ones. Apologies. Your point is taken. Not that it matters, chances of it getting passed are zip anywho.

Well, personally if you feel there are provisions that should be further defined by the Wolfish Convention on POWs, you can certainly discuss them.

But according to the current rules I'd advise on treating the issues of POWs as completely off-limits. :( The UN moderators currently struck down on one nation (unfairly) for wishing to refine a previous resolution.

I think it is a silly policy that needs to be changed of course, but I do encourage people at least talking about things here.
