Voter Education Program
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.
Description: SEEING that in many nations, the number of eligible voters who vote in elections is very small,
And that in many nations potential voters are not registered,
And that many potential voters do not know how to vote, where to vote, and when to vote,
And that if true Democracy is to reign all the eligible voters of all nations must vote,
LET IT BE RESOLVED that free, non-partisan voter education programs be set up in all member nations to educate and register potential voters, within the legal voting regulations of the nation.
I'd like you to support this proposal, and I'd also like your thoughts on it.

Well I don't know about this but I'm willing to accept it for the sake of argument.

What about nations that aren’t democratic? You can't restrict what type of government someone has (it's in 'Rights and Duties' I believe).
LET IT BE RESOLVED that free, non-partisan voter education programs be set up in all member nations to educate and register potential voters, within the legal voting regulations of the nation.
That's nice but perhaps you should 'Urge all democracies' or something.
I do like this though.

I thought about the Democracy issue also, but I thought as long as their is a category for proposals called "Furtherment of Democracy" the UN might encourage Democracy.

Encourage but not force. The wording as it is now forces all countries to hold elections which is in conflict with both 'rights and duties' and game mechanics.

Not a bad idea, but not flexible enough.
Some of our tribed don't "vote". Some work by consensus, some choose leaders by lottery, in some the oldest female is leader. So, give us some options.
Unfortunatly, this is a NATIONAL issue. if Joe Blow from Nationstate Buzzards Breath, does not want to vote, what right is it for the UN to force him to cast his ballot.
Voting turnouts is the problem of Nation Leaders... not the UN.

As it stands it is, and I hate to use the term, a national issue. If you just set up some guidelines for a scheme and 'urge' or 'ask' democratic nations to use them I would support this proposal.

This is a national issue, as people have said before, and forces political beliefs onto others. If a nation cannot support an economic policy proposal, like, say, Lindim's, it cannot support this.
