Call for Sanctions Against The Theocracy of Terenia

Artoonia
29-04-2004, 03:15
Regional politicking in The Satellite of Love region has reached a low point. The Theocracy of Terenia has made statements which Artoonia interprets as a threat to the autonomy and sovreignty of itself and the rest of the region, most of whom (Terenia included), are UN members. A recent message in the regional announcement centre (which as of right now is still active, should any other nations wish to verify the veracity of our claims, states in relevant part:

"You're correct in your assumption that you are inferior to second-guessing the God-lord. Eventually all nations will be ruled under the God-lord's iron fist."

Since the United Nations is a venue of peace, and because His Majesty's Government sincerely desires to avoid an armed conflict, especially with another member nation of our region, we appeal to the member states of the United Nations to send a message to the Terenian government and its crazed despotic leader Terensque that threats against other sovereign nations will not be tolerated. We would appreciate any input on how to deal with this problem in a peaceful, diplomatic manner.

Normally we would just fire the I.G.N.O.R.E. artillery units, but they are one of the most active in our region, and we are trying to achieve a diplomatic solution. (Notice, for example, that the Defence Ministry was not a signatory to this or the above thread).

doesn't seem that naked of a threat. Or veiled either. Do they want war....or do you?

Artoonians are a peace-loving people. We fight only when absolutely necessary. However, most of our regional neighbours are close allies, and we have pledged to protect all of our neighbours from unwarranted aggression. The problem is that this threat comes from another member of our region, which has repeatedly refused to cooperate with other nations, especially Artoonia. We are desperately trying to resolve this conflict diplomatically, but we fear it may come to bloodshed. Hence, we appeal to the international community for assistence in resolving this dispute in a positive, peaceful manner.

His Majesty's Government, in a bid to end this conflict peacefully, has extended an olive branch to the Terenian government. In the words of the ancient Artuana philosopher Johano Uxinstono, "Kiam ci entendas cian manon, ci unue devas malpreni cian glavon." ("When thou extendest thy hand, thou first must lay down thy sword.") However, Terenia has shown a marked refusal to engage in bona fide negotiations with Artoonia, from the moment it entered our region. This may have clouded our earlier judgment, but if they're willing to peacefully negotiate, then this silly ordeal may soon be over.

Cooler heads have won the day; Terenia and Artoonia have agreed to an embassy exchange.
