The American Dream, let the world live it!

President B.R. Lee of the Confederacy of Southern Patriots:
Today I issue a call reason, for none should deny the truth of my words. We live in a world where the hours you put in and the difficulty of the work do not always guarantee fair pay.
Pay is instead dictated to you based on your rank in the company. While booming stock markets, giant mergers and frantic financial speculation provide huge rewards to a tiny minority, the majority of the world's people are not enjoying much benefit from the neoliberal system of growth and development. For many, in fact, living standards have stagnated or declined, while the burden of work and insecurity have grown.
We as a people must end this inequality and instate new better law for ALL humankind.
I ask all members of the UN to read my proposal, the American Dream, and support it. Together we can create a world where all can be rich in money and spirit.
Thank you.

Description: PROBLEM: We live in a world where the hours you put in and the difficulty of the work.

SOLUTION:
* Fairer trade agreements that open world markets to agricultural and textile products from developing countries

* An agreement on a "balanced framework" for foreign direct investment that will ensure that developing countries benefit

* Enforcement of labour laws and trade union rights especially in export processing zones

* Better coordination between world institutions like the IMF, World Bank, ILO, and World Trade Organization in ensuring that job creation is the central economic policy goal.

I ask all nations to heed this message. There should be no gap in income between the factory owner and the factory worker. 'All men were created equal'. Let us prove it. Please support this initiative.
Such a change would better everyone.

Aah, the American dream... as envisaged by Steinbeck.
These are all good measures which we'd love to see implemented, but the right-libertarians, in their ongoing quest for the freedom to choose between destitution and sweatshops, won't stand for 'em.

Bootai-Bootai will not support this resolution for a large number of reasons, two of which are:

1) The clauses in the resolution are much too vauge to be implimented.

2) It is the position of Bootai-Bootai that unrestricted free trade ultimately benefits only the executives of large companies while the average working people lose their jobs (in the country of America, they are losing jobs across all sectors to foreign countries because of free trade.)

Bootai-Bootai will protect its jobs in the future and will restrict foreign "trade" when it is not equitable.

Just let the ratio of executive pay to average worker be what it as at Ben and Jerry's. 7 to 1, I think? That worked well; everybody was happy.

I would like to thank some of you for pointing out the vagueness in the proposal, but at the time I submitted it I was in a hurry and couldn't put everything I wanted in. I will resubmitt it with all of my solutions. If anyone has any ideas feel free to share. You should know I stand of the side of the workers and fairer pay.
