proposal: remove ALL tariffs
The conjugate surds

We the Nomadic Peoples of The Conjugate Surds are calling on all Nations (especially Liberal, Socialist, Capitalist and Communist) to support our proposal that calls for all nations to drop Tariffs on all imports.
The benefits are obvious, dropping boundaries and barriers will encourage more cooperation between nations and of course encourage more competition between all states and regions.
We urge you all to back this proposal so that it can go before the United Nations for the ultimate vote.

Tariffs are an important way to control prices, thus, Tuesday Heights will NOT support this proposal.

...removing tariffs increases competition and drive prices down (hopefully, logically anyway).
Too much government control is never a good thing anyway...
but each to their own

We don't have any tariffs. We don't need them, since we only allow trade with nations that meet certain economic-ethical criteria and agree to do the same.
Competition's fine, as long as you're all playing by the same rules and nobody gets hurt.

We usually trade only with those who have enetered into receiprocal trade agreements with us, which provides some protection against exploitive practices which underly many cheap products.
However if you want to buy our surplus turnips we will ignore your domestic policies.
I like tarrifs.
They allow my country to have money for all it's social programs, and it also allows me to see what's coming into my country.
Just don't trade with any country that has tariffs. That's the policy of our Theocracy and it has worked well.
"Complete free trade" may mean that health care and education could not be funded by the government, as private corporations running such programs in other countries may object to one country "helping out" their competition.
Therefore, we reject.
