Vacant Planets

Considering: Vacant Planets moves foward to fully abolish the military in order to use the money spent on that slot of our national budget on other issues such as fighting crime, internal security, health and education

Considering: We are faced to the reality that Vacant Planets could be threatnend by rogue nations that may disagree with my foreign policy or seek personal gain by violating our sovereignty.

Considering: The UN serves as a place for nations to deal their disputes in harmony.

Considering: The main reason for the UN's existance is mantaining world peace and guarantee all nations sovereignty.

We the people of Vacant Planets ask for the UN General Assembly to

Resolve: In favor of granting military protectorate to Vacant Planets to defend its sovereignty from any form of agression by members and non members of the United Nations.

Resolve: To guarantee Vacant Planets freedoms as a sovereign nations

Resolve: That any form of interference with Vacant Planets internal affairs will not be tolerated or promoted by the Assembly.

Resolve: That the rest of the details of how the protectorate will work shall be adressed as soon as there's an agreement on the principles of this rough draft.

Why not? it's not that different from everybody taking sides every other commies vs capitalists war... this time it's just a strong guarantee of protection from the UN.

Is this idea new to you?

Sigh...

Just great, I'd like to thank you all for laughing at the newbie, and not actually explaining why. Pfffrt.

(Pfffrt) = (Generic rude noise) Who knows, some one may not get it, I can never remember what nOOb means, lol.

Ahem, Okay, Vacant Planets, the reason some of our number appear to be rolling on the floor in mirth, is that you seem a little ignorant (Not in a bad way, so much) of how things work here. So in an educational way, I'm going to pick your proposal apart, take no offence, I always do this, and I hope you'll find it informative.

Considering: Vacant Planets moves foward to fully abolish the military in order to use the money spent on that slot of our national budget on other issues such as fighting crime, internal security, health and education

Thats nice, but its nothing to do with us. Its your money, spend it how you will.

Considering: We are faced to the reality that Vacant Planets could be threatnend by rogue nations that may disagree with my foreign policy or seek personal gain by violating our sovereignty.

Ping!, ah, well, heres a good tip, if some one threatens your nation, and you do not wish to be threatened, inform them via telegram you have fired your I.G.N.O.R.E. cannon/s at them, this is symbolic of saying "Buzz off, I don't want to play with you". If they insist you can always block their telegrams to you.

Considering: The UN serves as a place for nations to deal their disputes in harmony.

In real life it tries to, here it does not bother, this U.N. primary concern is getting in some good legislation.

Considering: The main reason for the UN's existance is mantaining world peace and guarantee all nations sovereignty.

Errr, not quite, I suggest you read all the stickies on the U.N. as well as the FAQ.

We the people of Vacant Planets ask for the UN General Assembly to

Uh-oh.

Resolve: In favor of granting military protectorate to Vacant Planets to defend its sovereignty from any form of agression by members and non members of the United Nations.

Nope, I think this was once deemed a no go area, due to many game mechanics / problems with enforcing issues.

Resolve: To guarantee Vacant Planets freedoms as a sovereign nations

Unless of coarse U.N. law "violates" your sov. ,

Resolve: That any form of interference with Vacant Planets internal affairs will not be tolerated or promoted by the Assembly.

Its not done so for any nation n the assembly. Juast inform some one of I.G.N.O.R.E. cannon/s being fired. And thats that. Thuis particular form of U.N. is not involved with thi sort of thing.

Resolve: That the rest of the details of how the protectorate will work shall be adressed as soon as there's an agreement on the principles of this rough draft.

Uh-uh. You can try, but I don't see this evr reaching quorum, though on an interesting note, at least this proposal followed the format reasonably well, :)

Thanks for clarifying. Then again, it would be a lot more fun if the UN could be more active in single nations issues, like the real UN, then again there's a lot of nations, so regional UN delegations or something could work for stuff like this... but again, thanks for the explanation.

(Shudder) I must be getting ill. Like, very ill.

Glad to have helped. :)

Yes, but :

Well, we do have delegates for regions, but their main concern (Should be, many it seems use it for internal-region power struggles) is getting "good" proposals to quorum. And hey, again, glad to have helped.

Another thing Vacant Planets, is that this UN doesn't seem concernd with things like military protection. Only making sure that all nations who are UN Members are Democratic. They seem only concernd about themselves and not the World in general.

If you need protection, I suggest looking for a region that will protect you.

Well, oddly enough Ichi Ni, the U.N. is supposed to try to further democracy, last I checked ...

And quite frankly, if the world does not want to join in, "screw them" ?

Not that I can talk, I dropped my membership with the entire Education proposal and the blood/organ one fiasco. Maybe I'll pick it up again after the SDI fly's / falls.

It would be intresting to see what would happen should this proposal pass.

Vacant - this is strictly speaking, a regional issue; much in the same as NATO was a regional organisation designed to defend against the communist bloc in real life.

If you write up the proposal I know of at least 4 delegates who will endorse it, if you want this to work you will need to learn the fine art of politics.

Thanks for the support Rotovia. You would have to give me till the end of the weekend to work on the first draft of the resolution, as I want to make it as detailed and expressive as posible to keep it more transparent, and considering a resolution like this should consider many things, it will take several reads and corrections before making the final draft to be proposed in the UN.

However I could try to post the articles as I write them so it can be open for constant debate and corrections and anyone with interest in it can have a say on the draft that will be presented for the UN.

Vacant Planets: You would do better to find allies that can help you if you get engaged in conflict that you want to have fun with. I would be willing to offer a defensive alliance with you since we support the ideals of peace. All you have to do is look.
