Confederate nations

There is an awfull lot of critisism on the current workings of the UN, and IMHO justly. Strange proposals get passed and i cant find myself in the UN well enough to say i can join. So here i am; what am i supposed to do. The united nations are too importent not too join, yet to demented to join.

Therefor i propose the idea of having our mighty over seeers the gods to allow more UNlike structures, with their own set of resolutions. Resolutions up for vote could go up for vote on all UN-like groups simultaniously yet voting is done seperately. I think there would be much entausiasm for something like that.

What do we, the gathered peoples of the world, think about that?

*DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A LONGTIME MEMBER, NOR AM I AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT OF THE FORUM. THIS IS MAINLY BECAUSE I CANT BE BOTHERED THAT MUCH TO PARTICIPATE IN A DISCUSSION ABOUT LEGISLATION THAT WILL NOT APLY TO ME. I WOULD LIKE TO TALK ABOUT LEGISLATION THAT WOULD AFFECT MY PEOPLE. DONT DISREGARD THIS POST JUST BUCAUSE IM NOT A FREQUENT POSTER*

I agree, and hope your idea can be iplemented

If you can implement this yourself, feel free to, but the mods won't.

ha, i wish i could. If there were a possibility to start your own forum, then it would be a piece of cake.

Yeah, this idea seems like a pretty good one. It's been brought up before. I think there might have been at least a possibility of it being integrated in NS2, but I'm no expert on that subject.

Plenty of the larger regions have started forums, though admittedly I'm not aware of any that form pseudo-UNs on a large scale. EZboards and Bravenet both offer free hosting to that end (I know their services are hardly stellar, but free is free), and I'm sure there are other sites. Probably the main problems are that people may be less eager to join a less official group (as though the "official" UN is really any different -- they're both fake) and that the resolutions would be more difficult to enforce in such an environment. Advantages should be obvious, but recruitment is probably the main difficulty.

especialy for me -as a mere spokesperson- recruitment will be difficult. but i would love to see a place where voting actualy means something and the sheep wont be so abundant. THe forum however is more of a problem. It has to be an official forum as unofficial forums would bring too many problems along. just take registration. everyone can register an account and claim to be 72 nations. no way of checking it.

I do think a lot of people hate to see their vote go to waste to the (may i call it) sheepvote. I think it just wrecks this thing of ours. contradicting resolutions, resolutions seriously infringing on souvereignity.

I hope that that more then a dream. Lot of users is a good thing but a bit less users that think a bit more might not be such a bad trade off.

A Informative Reply to Pao Genua

(Becuase I think they telegrammed me with praise earlier, and asked for my opinion and / or help, :D , well, I do have an easily stroked ego ! )

* Stares off into space for a moment ...

Oh, now I get it, okay then.

While in theory, and with some alterations, this would be a really spank-able idea  , it simply won't work,

Crowd of on-lookers : WTF ! Why ?

Beause as stated by Santin, this is not a new idea, so to speak. Though I do think the application is different, as in having multiple region-esque groups you could join, intsead of a single U.N., that way all vote on a resolution, but it might only pass in so many of them.

Usually most people kick and scream for a "Anti-U.N." and needless to say, well, all they do is kick and scream, on their way out too !

Now while this is a good idea and were it part of the game that would be just dandy, but as Rehochipe in their wisdom stated, If you can get it running yourself, feel free to, but the moderators and administration won't.

See, that would involve coding and re-coding the game, which from all accounts wil not happen till, yes, most of us are now huffing a big sigh ... "N.S. 2"

Yes, I know, but they've been very-hard-core about it, and I know the stress that can be coding, and the fact that not only would it take much time, probably money, and certainly years off their life. Also the danger is once they break-down and change something, especially something big, more people will want more changes, and will then need to be placated by said coders when their told "No, computer run dEEt-nOOb.exe "

Don't worry too much though Pao Genua, my crystal ball says some change of some sorts will hapen eventually, hopefully this year. Though I'll be darn'd if I know what...

Most NationStates regions that I've seen (including my own) use either InvisionFree or ProBoards. Neither is spectacularly bad, though InvisionFree seems to be held in higher regard.

(I used EZboard once a couple years back, and wouldn't wish it on anyone, but that's getting a bit off-topic...)
