Support the resolution to legalize file sharing and help to support the free exchange of ideas and entertainment. OR are you a cold, heartless captain of industry who sues little children just beacuse they traded a few songs on the internet?

The Republic of G Bugles finds abhorrent the notion that anyone would want to restrict the right of creators to control the distribution of their creations. Furthermore, should any action on the part of Our Own Laziness result in distribution of the creations of G Bugles artists without their consent, military action will follow.

Maybe the artists of G Bugles can come out of obscurity with the help of filesharing. I doubt anyone outside of G Bugles has had any exposure to G Buglesian art. Increased exposure equals free advertising which in turn creates more profit for the artist, surely you can see the logic in that.

Why not just push for more development of open source software? As for music et al.. you would have to ask each artist where they stand on it, and craft various licenses accordingly.

It's a brave GNU world.... embrace it

If the artist (or whoever holds the rights to his work) agrees to it, fine--that is already permitted, since the creator (or rights-holder) has every right to set the terms for distribution of his work, and G Bugles is a nation that respects ALL individual rights.

However, your proposal would legalize it even if the creator/rights holder did NOT agree, which is a blatant violation of the right of the creator/rights holder to set the terms for distribution of his work.

To categorically allow or disallow all file-sharing is wrong. It is up to whoever holds the rights to a particular work to decide what is and is not allowed for that particular work.

As the Emperor is a cold, heartless captain of industry who sues little children just beacuse they traded a few songs on the internet, he will not be supporting this proposal.
