Does anyone else feel the UN is getting very left wing
i own a left wing government and agree with most of the testaments
but i feel most of the points being put across are not UN problems just someone forcing there opinion on every other nation

The passage of acts in the United Nations is determined by popular rule, and the issue of equal representation is absolutely outside of jurisdiction. If the prevailing voice calls for progressivism, then there is nothing more natural.

Unfourtunately, the UN knows no boundaries, which is dangerous or intrusive if you want to rule your own country instead of the United Nations (ruled by the collective) dictating your country for you.

Pure Democracy=Mobocracy.

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine" - Thomas Jefferson

Then why are you a member? It is the task of the UNO to seek for peaceful talks between different nations. Many people are tired of being wounded or worse in senseless wars.

True Libereco, However, the recent passage of several resolutions make me feel that the un is tired of seeking peaceful talks and is now bullying others to do the UN's will.

Many resolutions which have passed and are pending block the whole system because often these are foolish ones.

Yep, and who votes these stupid ones in... the ones who look at it and say "What a Nice title. it's a worthy cause, fixing education... support it... I'm sure that I'll agree to whatever the author put into this resolution."

And that's also the only reason I continue to stay in.

For those reasons, do you feel the UN has successfully served it's purpose?

The Free Market proposals can be seen as being right wing. like in America, Free Market means people have to pay for healthcare, while in the UK they dont, and paying for healthcare is a very right wing idea.

What do you mean? The reason of me being able to go around and invade regions, or help defend against them? Not really, but I'm not going to quit and reapply every time I need to have UN membership.

I will agree that when compared to RW US politics, most of the UN nations are more liberal than conservative, and being a conservative it's upsetting sometimes.

But even so, I don't whine when I don't get my way (not to insinuate that anyone else is).

My main issue now is that the UN is overstepping it's power.

I'm slowly but surely losing all control over my country.

Hopefully in NS2 we'll be able to revoke resolutions, because things change, and people change their minds on issues.

Actually what's annoying about the UN in real life is that the General Assembly is composed of nations, the majority of which are at best unfree and at worst are civil and political hell-holes which at its most extreme means that free nations like the United States are considered equal to the likes of North Korea in terms of their votes in the General Assembly. Having nations like Libya, Syria, Iran, Sudan serving on committees and running UN policy on important areas like Human Rights. The nepotism and corruption of the Oil-For-Food Program and the billions of dollars that vanished into the pockets of various UN bureaucrats and cronies plus the kickbacks to Saddam. If it wasn't for the Security Council exercising vetos [mostly USA] against the more extreme crap, such as the rampant anti-Semitism of the UN member nations, I'd say the UN is not only as irrelevant as the League of Nations ever was, but actually more harmful on the course of world events.

Here in Nation States, what is annoying is that Liberal UN States are using UN Resolutions as a way to further yank their nations around the political, civil and economic spectra. What two issues a day aren't enough for you? Since Nation States enforces all UN resolutions on all UN member states, if you want to roleplay being a UN member that ignores UN resolutions the way North Korea and Israel do (to give just two very different examples) you can't. This use of UN Resolutions to flog political hobby horses (most of which are dead  ) is highly annoying. Can't we see the UN and its Resolutions being used to support roleplaying. Resolutions in other words that condemn the nation of old so-and-so's for excessive region crashing and griefing or even the occaisional newbie for total cluelessness. 8) Enough already. Ban the UN from future legislative proposals that yank everyone's countries around politically, socially and economically.

Changes for NS2 that might be reasonable would be that each of the top five nations in terms of economy, civil rights and political freedoms have a veto they can exercise against UN Resolutions, similarly, nation states may themselves decide to ignore/refuse to abide by UN Resolutions that pass but must pay some price for doing so [probably very mild negative effect on their nation = a pariah point scale perhaps?]. Ability for new nations to go back and implement all old UN Resolutions or ignore them if they like upon joining the UN.
