### UN PROPOSAL - CLEAN UP LEGAL PROSTITUTION ###

This resolution will help to improve the rights of prostitutes everywhere, since prostitution is already legal by the UN resolution "Legalize Prostitution".

Prostitutes are people, too.

Before you ask, yes, this covers female and male prostitutes.

Clean Up Legal Prostitution

Description: Whereas free and unregulated prostitution is extremely detrimental to society,

Therefore we the United Nations recognize that prostitution is legal, however it may only be conducted by a sanctioned business in a commercially zoned area. Any prostitutes caught in the open outside of a sanctioned business will be subject to the laws of their country dealing with the matter.

Therefore also all prostitutes must, in the act, be provided some form of protection by their sanctioned business place, be it birth control pills, condoms for the customer, or otherwise. Businesses failing to do so will be subject to the laws of their country dealing with the matter. This is for the protection of the health of all prostitutes.

By making prostitution an actual business, the risk of kidnap/rape/murder to prostitutes will be very minimal, also, the risk of STD transmission will be lessened slightly.

Even prostitutes deserve to be treated with respect

Agreed. Although passing anything logical through the UN is an uphill battle to say the least ;)

This one has a chance. This is the second time through, perhaps it will pass this time.

I'd really like to see something like this, since legal prostitution with no regulations at all is horrible for a country's economy, social morale, and is dangerous to prostitutes forced into it oftentimes by ruthlessly uncaring pimps.

By making it a business, people can choose whether or not to be prostitutes... and this ensures they are of a legal age.

There are so many benefits, I can't imagine any civilized nation with the power to, not endorsing it.

This is really a good idea. So let's see, what happens to this proposal. ;)

Good idea. I don't see why anyone would want to vote this one down.

While I do support this resolution, in theory, I am somewhat discouraged by the perceived need to punish those prostituting themselves outside of sanctioned areas.

I believe that the government must be involved and establish areas where the prostitutes can do their business safely, but if one chooses to opt out, the choice, and the risk, should be theirs.

There is no clause in the prostitution resolution forbidding regulation of prostitution; ergo, this proposal is needless and compounds this needlessness by specifying particular and debatable regulations on the institution.

I'm sorry santin but the pure fact that the past resolution DOES NOT regulate prostitution, is the reason that this resolution is needed because without that regulation in writing there is no guarantee that regulation will happen :!:

Again, the previous resolution does nothing to prevent regulation. If your government desires to regulate, there is nothing stopping you. I ask only that you kindly keep your grubby hands off my nice, clean domestic policy. What your nations does within its borders is, for the most part, your business.

again im sorry santin but since you are a UN member nation and since in your agreement to enter the UN you were told that you are required to follow all of its resolutions... including the one legalizing prostitution your country's "clean" domestic policy is no cleaner than my own.... I am simply making provisions to make sure it is not disease ridden as well.

Apparently you missed the bit where the previous resolution doesn't forbid regulation. Well, to point it out yet again, it did not. It does legalize prostitution, but allows -- indeed, if you followed the forum debates on the matter, intends -- for regulation to follow on a domestic scale. I see no reason why the United Nations should settle this angle of the matter.

Two points...

First. The Prostitues in my nation Don't need cleaning. they are regulated and go through check-ups as required to hold a licence to practice.

Two. This is a NATIONAL ISSUE. so thus IMHO outside of UN Jusidiction.

This is a good proposal and well needed. Our Brothel Inspector Program is at the cutting edge of its industry. When the great nations of the UN Pass this proposal I will offer Boobkakistan's expertise on this matter to all nations, for the betterment of our World.

Eh?

WE CAN PASS THIS PEOPLE! LET'S VOTE FOR THIS!

Let's clean up legal prostitution so that the world may be a better place!

This is despicable!

Any moral nation does not regulate any other type of business except for the usual prohibitions against force and fraud; why should prostitution be treated any differently from the rest?
14-04-2004, 06:03
Sorry for the delay in endorsing this proposal...

It is now endorsed

Thus, I have re-submitted it.

Everyone who endorsed the first time, re-endorse please! Let's get this proposal some support and on the voting pedestal so prostitutes everywhere can have fair legal business rights!!!

Re-endorsed it

Actually I do agree with you here.

The bottom line is the original resolution was bad. This proposal is as well. For the same reason: it FORCES nations to adopt a policy that may or may not fit in with their own laws.

It smacks of Big Brother.
Though based on the way the UN responds to issues that is probably the norm. People seem to believe the UN should force them to do things. They want the UN to take action. The want a mommy and daddy.

Well ... in every nation sex is legal. And selling stuff is legal. So why is selling sex illegal ?
