UN PROPOSAL: NATIONS DECIDE DRUG POLICY
This resolution aims to give every nation the right to decide for themselves whether or not drugs should be legal, and protects this right of responsibility and choice.
Nations Decide Drug Policies
'Drug' is defined here as any substance, chemical or biological, that when taken alters the mind in a temporary/permanent way, which is non-medical.
WHEREAS drug policies have long been debated among the nations of the world,
RECOGNIZING that every nation in the world is sovereign,
RECOGNIZING the individual responsibility this entails,
Whereas it is resolved that drug policy will be left up to every individual UN nation to decide, and that no resolution passed after this in the UN may limit that ability to choose.

Ooh, ooh, me too!
Resolved, the status quo!
Sincerely yours,
Daniel M. Hillaker
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Hmmm, I love the idea.
Just one more thing for people to finally shut up about.
(Applause ! ! !)

:D Thank you. Even though I myself am against, for the most part, most all forms of drug legalization, I feel that every nation has a right to choose for itself.
I hope this will finally end, at least, THIS debate. When every nation can choose for itself, the UN is more decentralized, and ladies and gentlemen, that is a very good thing. :D
It is already. We in psychotropics not only have legalized ALL chemicals for personal use...... but we also encourage the use of LSD, DMT, Psylocin, Mescalin, MDMA, THC, 5meoDMT, 2-CB, and Salvia D.
Long Live Goa Trance!

This would protect the right of all nations to choose their own drug policies, before somebody passes something legalizing all drugs everywhere or banning all drugs everywhere.
This protects the right of choice!
Yes... I know. I think all nations already have that right. However... if there is a danger of a proposal that would end that right... then consider us signed on to your proposal

We recall proposing something along these lines a while ago, which concentrated on protecting nations from non-UN intimidation as well as smuggling. While we believe nations have the right to determine their own drugs policy, we don't believe they have the right to encourage smuggling of narcotics to other nations, or to pressurize other nations to change their policies. We'd therefore heartily support this proposal if one word was added:
Whereas it is resolved that internal drug policy will be left up to every individual UN nation to decide, and that no resolution passed after this in the UN may limit that ability to choose.

It does not encourage smuggling of any kind, and I cannot change it in its current state.
It says what it should and quite well, and it means what it is.
I do not remember your proposal, this is of my own fabrication.
Solid support this time but next time I hope it to do better.
Still, show your support for national choice by approving this proposal!
this proposal seems fine. However, I am concerned that this proposal might encourage the illegal smuggling of drugs, especially to those nations which have laws against their use.
I'd like to see a resolution urging member states to restrict the flow of drugs outside their country, but I doubt I'll see that happening.
I think it would be much better to decide on drugs in the whole region. If it differs a lot between neighbour countries, it would cause much troubles.
In Any Sweetness drugs are strictly forbidden, because of the Queen's care about the health of our people.
We don't want here any smugglers, any illegal trade, so we want XIVLO to become a drugs-free region.
God be with the Queen!

Good idea, a preemptive strike against meddlesome regulations.
Good idea, a preemptive strike against meddlesome regulations.
Why this was deleted baffles me. I received a most odd telegram and have asked Cogitation about it.
Anyway, everyone who supports national choice, please vote for this proposal as it re-enters the queue.
Actually this kind of co-incides with one of the proposals I am drafting, Zero Crime on Substance Abuse (Titles probably too long, but, eh (shrugs), I could always change it), where nations who out-law addictive drug use in their borders should de-criminalise such acts and instead respond with treatment-rehabilitation, and focus further on anti-dealing/trafficing laws.
Though now I think for the while I may be shelving it,

It's a good proposal but I would also like to see a rule where smuggling is prevented. And I can't find the proposal.

Ditto, Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. While Drug usage is down to induvidual nations, drug smuggling is a whole different kettle of fish.
