Tax Controls

Universal Acceptance

Proposal: A tax rate to halt and decrease the widening gap between the rich and the poor.

Plan: To distribute wealth equally within a country because the rich can maintain their current quality of life and pay a higher tax rate whereas the poor can use the money to increase the economy and overall national wealth at no disadvatage to other wealth classes.

Advantages: Provides money that can be recycled into the economy and help developing nations create a better quality of life without sacrificing other basic U.N. resolutions.

Has this actually been submitted, or is it in the planning stages?

I like this, but it needs to be expanded more. What type of tax controls, specifically, are you suggesting?

Soak the rich and give to the non-productive ? Sorry, that violates every economic principle of the Church of Psychotropics. You may use the force of your own nations laws to steal from your most productive members... but we absolutely refuse.

Here's a radical idea.... how about money goes to those who EARN it ? A little less "Stalin-esque" don't you think ?? ;)

Excellent idea. You'll be abolishing inheritance, the stock market and interest-based loans, then.

Yeah, there's that love-thy-neighbour, rich-man-camel-eye-of-needle spirit of Jesus right there. Makes me all warm and fuzzy.

Surely you mean China? Oh wait, they're capitalists too now. Cuba? Y'know, if the right wing had fewer bile-spitting idiots and more rational arguments we might be more inclined to pay attention to them.

That said, while we're all for tax-and-spend domestically we can't broach the UN getting its fingers into national tax rates. We won't support this.

Most of the rich produce nothing.

They live on inherited wealth.

Some gain wealth by crime, or speculation, which is counter-productive.

I already have fairly low taxes, well, I think I did, oh yeah, and keep your grubby ands off my economy  , no joke, this the kind of proposal I would dodge out and then back in the U.N. to avoid, While I disagree with the critical "pinko" comments, this proposal does sound a little... "commie" in a way, I don't see why the U.N. should be "playing god" in such a way as to control the basis of our economies. I don't think this could ever pass, it raises the idea of National Sov. too strongly...

The world really is not quite the same it was during the Cold War. (if it was such even then) There is and never can be a strict division to rich and poor citizens. The ever-growing "middle class" (yes, also an old-fashioned, possibly nowadays invalid term) gains more and more wealth and can use it to buy themselves properties with their hard-earned money. Thus everyone in society gets more wealthy but is that a reason for their greed to stop?
No, even with our high-class social systems human being still practise their most ancient trade: they envy those who make better of life than they themselves do. Unfortunately it is true that that greed is also the fuel of society. We struggle in life so that some day we can have the same high standard of living as those "owners".
So if your goal is to make all citizens to the same unproductive mass, who have no reasons to struggle to make ones life better, plese do endorse this proposal. That is just what it would efficiently do.
