The proposal will be found on page 13 of the UN proposals.
The title is: Lower Taxes For Everybody
A resolution to reduce income inequality and increase basic welfare.

Category: Social Justice Strength: Significant Proposed by: Anti - Flag
Description: I would like to propose to the UN a way to earn more money while having lower taxes. The high taxes such as the ones in nationstates reduce the money available for business expansion. Also, the high tax rates reduce the amount of money the government collects.

If taxes were lower, businesses and consumers would spend their extra money, bringing about in a boost in the economy. As the economy of the nation grows, the people in the nation will have more money.

The governement will collect more tax money at a lower rate then if you kept the takes high. Lower taxes for everybody.

Approvals: 1 (Anti - Flag)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 154 more approvals)

Voting Ends: Mon Apr 5 2004

No. First, lowering taxes is and always has been of deeply questionable effectiveness in stimulating economic growth. Increases in public spending are generally far more effective, contrary to what the prevailing economic dogma may hold.

Second, we have a 100% tax rate because that is how we have chosen to run our (socialist) economy - and it's currently working very well. This is yet another attempt by capitalists to undermine our right to run our economy how we damn well please.

The Republic of G Bugles wholeheartedly supports this proposal. No correctly-run nation will attempt to expropriate what rightfully belongs to its citizens without their consent.

They have consented. Social contract. Oh wait, wasn't Ithuania going to refute that for us? *cackles hysterically*

First of all, Anti-Flag is the greatest band, EVER!
Well, no, not really, but they do kick a$$.

But I'm against this preposal. It's forceing a economic system onto nations. It's just as bad as if there was a preposal that said you had to have a 100% tax rate and provide free health care and houseing for all your people. It's just not a good preposal, and has no place in the UN.

(note: before you jump down my throught cause I'm not in the UN and this doesn't effect me anyway, I have a UN nation, and the computer I'm currently useing is extremely sloe and prone to frequent crashes, so I'm really not in the mood to switch nations and come back here and post. Assume this post id from Katzistanza 2.)

This is a national issue, not a UN issue. Taxes can be lowered by dealing with the issues that your nation has every day. Any issue that requires government support will raise taxes. Occasionally there are issues with the option of lowering taxes, or giving tax cuts. These choices will lower taxes. It is not the place of the UN to dictate taxation in member states.

Taxes are beyond the mandate of the UN. The UN may not impose taxes and it may not cut them.

As for your economic model, it is so speculative and simplistic that it caused our Minister of Trade and Industry to fall backwards over his chair and lie on the office carpet kicking his legs in the air and giggling.

I'm not sure that is entirely true, Rehochipe. While the UN may not mandate a tax rate, many of the resolutions passed appear to have an effect on the tax rate.

Regardless, I agree that this is not an appropriate matter for the UN to legislate. As Goryville said, each individual nation is responsible for their tax rate, through the issues.
