1) I'll read nothing if you've not had the sense to post the darn'd thing here.

Most people are not going to run off chasing a resolution with no details as to what its called or where it is.

Most will not bother even thinking about it if you've not posted it or a link here. Fair warning.

2) Going by the old "Been there, seen that, got the bloody t-shirt" argument, I'd say no proposal is going to pass when it will either legalise or de-legalise drugs. This is usually thought to be another sov. issue by many. Personally, my people just don't like the stuff

Personally, I think the legalisation or otherwise of drugs is a national issue, but what I would suggest the UN should do is urge member states to increase national awareness of drugs and their effects, and also clamp down on the international drug trafficking industry

My personal idea is the nationalise-ation of any and all drugs supplying/trafficing/ groups and material, thus allowing nations to regulate these drugs, making nations the only legal suppliers, and giving us greater control over what comes into and out of our borders.

So if we decide not to buy it / grow it cause our laws say so so be it, but if we did grow it we could sell it to other nations who wish to buy it... I am making sense no?

Anyway, thats just an idea, but yeah, this is a sov. issue I think.

1) It wasn't very well thought out
2) It wasn't posted in proper format
3) There are "legalize marijuana" proposals out the wazoo on NationStates
4) Drug legalization is a national sovereignty issue.

Therefore, I won't vote for it.

We agree that drugs are essentially a national issue. We agree with Hirota that a proposal to facilitate international cooperation on trafficking would be useful to prevent factionalisation between nations into anti-drug and pro-drug nations. 'Clamping down on the international drug trafficking industry' we are all in favour of as long as it doesn't infringe on the ability of pro-drug nations to trade with each other. As for education - well, we're all in favour of this, but it may be a sovereignty issue. Some states might consider that increasing awareness is a two-edged sword, and would be opposed to balanced drug education in much the same way as they'd be opposed to balanced sex education. While we would laugh at such states behind our hand, we wouldn't impose on their wishes.
