Federal Uniform Currency Chip

22-03-2004, 02:44
Friends and neighbors, I ask you to vote for the Federal Uniform Currency Chip proposal. This implant would eliminate the borders of varying currencys and promote free trade. It will work with the amber alerts to find missing and abducted children. The elimination of currency will aid in environmental rejuvination, no more clear cutting for paper, no more strip mines for coins. This is the future of our world ladies and gentlemen, are you brave enough to face it? Please vote this resolution to quorum and then to law. Thank you for your time.

Text of proposal follows...

Federal Uniform Currency Chip

Category: Free Trade; A resolution to reduce barriers to free trade and commerce.
Strength: Mild

Proposed by: Evilee

Description:This proposal utilizes the Federal Unifrom Currency Chip technology which will stabilize global economies and work with amber alerts in the seach for lost children. The idea is that hard currency will be eliminated and international, regional, and national security will be improved by being able to track denizens movements via satellite and cell towers. This will also eliminate the need for hard currency and aid in paper and metal resource waste. People with outstanding warrant for crimes such as failure to pay child support will be brought to justice immediately. Also this concept will aid in the tracking of kidnap victims by being able to track people all the time.

A few problems.

First, some technical problems. The Amber Alert system is not a recognized function of the United Nations, and so really can't be referenced in a NationStates international legislation. Cell phone towers, as currently designed, don't have the capacity to track people by any means.

I must object to any proposal which aims to install tracking devices in all the citizens of the world. Invasion of privacy is not, as I see it, a necessary UN function.

I must protest any attempt to wrest control of currency production away from the sovereign nations of the world. I see no hard and fast reason why I should give another nation or consortium of nations tantamount control of the world's economy via cashflow. This is doubly true when I have no assurances as to the security of this new currency.

First of all...do all UN Nations have a uniform currency?

To date, no. Proposals to that effect are common, but to my knowledge none has ever passed.

couple things here. now, i am not a religious person, but i have read that on every microchip, there is a barcode, and on that bar code sumwere there are 3 identical lines. each of the lines on the barcode stands for a different number, depending on the thickness. now these peticular 3 bars stand for 6. so, on every barcode on every chip in these people, there are the numbers 666, (the sign of the devil/amarmagedon, for those of u who dont know). kind of an ominous thing, isnt it.
othere than that, theres the privacy factor. all the stores will have these readers in them to read who u are when u enter. i really have no intrest in everybody having the ability to know where i go all the time.
anywho, theres my 2 cents

Yes, that's exactly why I wouldn't support something like this. Also, the government could track you too easily.

Psh. The "666 on barcodes" thing again.

http://www.snopes.com/business/alliance/barcode.asp

Each number in the UPC is represented by seven spaces -- some are white, some are black. In the case of the number six, these digits are 1010000 (ones are black, zeros are white). The guard bars, the numbers at the end of the code, are both only three digits in length, and both are represented by 101. The middle bar is five digits -- 01010. The guard bars and middle bar are in place to aid computers in reading the code. As far as the system is concerned, none of those are compatible characters; only one of them represents the number six, and that's the one that's in the code itself. While someone might try to argue that all of those symbols contain the "101" combination, that someone would also do well to notice that every number in the UPC consists of two vertical lines and a some white space between and/or around them.

3) Uh... what gives the U.N. the right to remove hard currency? Alot of developing nations cant handle the high tech info economy. In this respect your idea is very impractical.

4) Track us all? Well,

A) GOOD BYE ALL CIVIL RIGHTS, BYE BYE NOW !

B) HELLO LOGISTICAL IMPOSSIBILITIES, LETS JUST IGNORE THE IDEA OF MANY, *MANY* NATIONS HAVING OVER 1 *BILLION* CITIZENS, AND EVEN LOWER END ESTIMATES OF SAY,

500 MILLION X 30,OOO = Alot of people to "track".

5) Tracking of kid-nap victums... yes, and anyone else, human nature dictates this technology will be misused, du'h.

Ahem, and the judge gives the verdit of,

Right. Lets give every nation in the world the power to track every citizen of the world. That way, if I wanted to use a cruise missile to assassinate a foreign leader who'd looked at me the wrong way, all I have to do is dial up his code and push launch. Because that, if nothing else, symbolizes free trade at its finest - screwing people from afar without letting them know it was you.

Sincerely yours,

Like others, we are confused by the reference to 'Amber alerts'. What are these? When did the UN recognise these?

OOC: Well in England it’s the middle light on a traffic light. And the colour of the ‘WAIT’ light on pelican crossings.

I still love the acronym for Federal Uniform Currency Chip, get it yet, this guy wants the U.N. to institute a F.U.C.C. ... Go on, say it out loud.

Oh, the irony, a proposal that would F.U.C.C. us. Really would.

Free trade is unfair trade.

This would mess up our economy; diddling with currency is terribly disruptive.
