United Ireland Act
Category: The Furtherment of Democracy
Strength: Significant

Description: This bill seeks to unite the isle of Ireland again. The last vestige of British colonialism is still alive in Ireland in 2004, and we seek to end this injustice and bring a peaceful, united Ireland onto the world stage. We have a historic opportunity here, to right the wrongs of over 800 years of Irish suffering at the hands of a foreign power. 6 counties of the historically 9 counties of Ulster in the north of Ireland were taken by the British under an unjust treaty signed to create an artificial majority of loyal British subjects to further destabilize Ireland. Since then a bloody guerilla war campaign has been waged by those living in these six counties and this must end. The only way to end the bloody violence, and to right this historic wrong, is to unite Ireland into one nation, 32 counties, with a fair government for all based in Dublin. We urge you to vote this through, for the good of Ireland, for the furtherment of humanity, the good of the world and in the name of freedom.

Thank you,
All Irish and Scottish regions

What is this 'Ireland' of which you speak? Perhaps that fictional nation Ireland popularised in so many romantic novels?

This isn't an issue for the UN. It's an issue for the General forum. I'd argue with your points (which are simplistic and demonstrate deep partisan bias), but that'd just be vindicating this non-proposal.

I know that's just what I'd want as a British subject. Sure, we'll just join some backwater country that has a national language that I don't speak and has a national religion that I don't have.

That's one of the most inane proposals I've ever heard. While we're at it, let's mandate that the Regional language of Fallout California is Ohlone. We'll find someone who can kind of speak it a bit based on ancient texts and then we'll force everyone to rewrite all their ordinances in that ancient language.

Any theft of land more than 2 generations ago is old news - trying to give it back is just stealing land from current inhabitants who have done nothing wrong. That's why we celebrate Not Giving Things Back Day every year.

Don't make me come over there.

"Don't make me come over there." What will you do? Insult us some more?

I hope so, I thought it was quite good.
