My Proposal - Human Rights, related to Teenage Girls

It's about time the gynaecology department of our healthcare systems had a revision, and changed the way they perform procedures. This proposal shall apply to gynaecology, obstetrics, and abortion clinics as well. All 3 of these departments specialize in women's health, for different means. However, all 3 of them put women, especially young girls, in a very uncomfortable and vulnerable position. It is unarguable that many gynaecologists, especially males, become desensitized to their job, and become sadistic and perverted, especially on teenage girls. However all 3 departments practically use the same technology, so we shall refer to them all in the gynaecology area.

One rite of passage that shouldn't be for girls is their first time with a gynaecologist and his/her tools, rather than a loving boyfriend. There are 3 parties involved in this particular scenario: the girl who does not want to have a stranger between their legs and hurting them (pap smears can hurt more than regular sexual intercourse), the parent who believe they are doing the right thing by raising "Awareness" into their daughter about keeping healthy, and the gynaecologist who is responsible for making the experience comfortable, although in more cases than most, it is far from it.

Rape is a crime where a girl is forced to have sex by an attacker. Assisted rape is when someone else helps the rapist have his way. How is this any different? Parents of young girls are totally strict about boys, yet they are willing to let a stranger violate their girl however he wishes. Here is what I propose:

1) Lawmakers to carve in stone that a girl who is of conscious age can refuse to go to a doctor who specializes in this area, if it involves violation. If the parent forces them in any way, it shall be considered assisted rape in a court of law. The girl is allowed to go if SHE wills it, if she wants to go, and if she feels that it's the best thing to do.

2) While this bylaw is in effect, any gynaecological tools that are required to examine a girl that doesn’t require anaesthesia and involves a sexual examination shall undergo a makeover, and new-age scanning booths, which scan a girl’s complete system for complications in the reproductive system, shall replace all.

3) After step 2 is done, lawmakers shall revoke step 1, because after the technology is implemented, going for an exam will not be a problem at all if it involves just sitting while clothed.

I am a male, but I believe that the female generation deserves better, because forcing your teenage daughter to go for a complete pelvic examination is similar to what is happening in Africa and the Middle East, known as "Female Genital Mutilation", which is a sexual rite of passage forced by parents onto unwilling
Daughters.

Point 1 is virtually meaningless anyway given the current legal position with regard to medical treatment. All common law countries in the real world operate a system whereby a person who objects to treatment, if they are of sound mind, has a right to have their bodily integrity respected. Any action contravening the wishes of a patient, unless someone has consented on their behalf (which is only possible for people who are not considered competent by a strict test), will result in the perpetrator of the 'assault' being liable in criminal and tort (the law relating to personal injury etc. Literally means 'wrong' in French). The most recent legislation in the UK regarding sexual offences has broadened the definition of rape to include penetration of not only the vagina, but any orifice of any person with objects other than and including the penis.
Basically, this boils down to the fact that smear tests are not compulsory anyway, but advisable for the health and well being of the patient in the prevention of cancer. I hereby call upon the assembly to dismiss the submission of Kool Mangeria, with the respectful conclusion that our legal systems adequately deal with the situation at present.

Um. Pelvic exams can be unpleasant, but I find comparing them to FGM or rape somewhat offensive. We are unaware of the existence of these 'new age scanning booths' of which you speak, whether they are effective, or how poorer nations will be able to afford them. While we would support measures to increase the care doctors employ with regard to this, your implementation is deeply impractical and your rhetoric deeply flawed.

:roll:

Judging simply by your proposal, you may be male, but, your also a raving lunatic.

Oh, and, just to keep the ridicule of you on-going, explain exactly how you feel female genital mutilation is similar to a medical exam?

I really would like to hear that, then we could be further disgusted by your ignorance and leave this thread to wither and die as it justly deserves.

Ooh, a thread meant to wither and die. Well, I am reminded of the abortion threads. As a pro-lifer, it has become my duty to keep withering and dying threads alive with ethical jargin that applies to only a small group of people(Catholics), most of whom are not in the UN to begin with... but I'm too lazy to pull out my Bible and see what it says about rapist Gynecologists, so, I'll keep it alive the only way I know how, a hot spam injection.

* Smiles, and says,

See, you can tell he's devout, he said thank-you, the normal ones scream about us going to hell for supporting a differing view. :wink:

* Takes off his hat to the Rep. Vivelon.
