I cant believe some of the idiot proposals that come thru the UN! If u ban nuclear weapons in all UN nations every nation that isnt in the UN will just conquer you, or do these idiots not realize that UN proposals affect only UN nations?

hell ya, some people are idiots. one nation said that if we keep ICBM's, all the rich nations will be more powerfull than poor ones. OMG, if u r rich u are powerful, it's fact, poor nations should recieve no sympothy becuz they failed economicaly, and can't build weapons.

The ignore cannon is more powerful than any nuke.

Aside from our I.G.N.O.R.E. cannons, the Council of Enn has powers at its disposal that would deal with any invading force. We see no need for nuclear weapons, and find the use of them abhorrant.

I'm drowning in the irony. No, seriously. Its everywhere. Anyway, its good to see another nation swallowing hard the nuclearist rhetoric that will forever perpetuate atomic warfare. Oh well. At least we're an island nation, tucked away from all the atomic fun you'll be having.

Well, I, for one, want to see this resolution pass.
As a non-UN member, perhaps one day I will develope an interest in developing nuclear weapons for my nationstate, so that the Holy Empire of Grand Hobgoblonia may have an edge over the giant UN collective.

At this time Grand Hobgoblonia has no interest in such an investment, however, for it would provide no significant edge or threat over any significant population.

Sincerely yours,

What, exactly, is threatening about the giant UN collective you speak of? I'm no expert in threat construction, but how is a large number of nations voting for whatever dangling in front of them while a much smaller number of nations argue without tolerance behind closed doors at all threatening?

Who said anything about the UN being threatening? It has nothing to do with defensive posture, that is, if the Holy Empire of Grand Hobgoblonia were to be interested in developing nuclear weapons, not at all! It would be about an offensive posture, one of coercive strength!

But with there currently being nothing preventing UN nations from owning nuclear weapons and trading blows with potentially coercive would-be nuclear nations such as Grand Hobgoblonia, it isn't worth it, there is no upperhand to speak of.

This type of resolution attempts to be a deterrent to the use of nuclear arms by "banning" them, when the UN could do a much better job of preventing their use or proliferation by making them an unworthwhile investment, ie, make the punishment of nuclear offenders, even non-UN members, so horrible, that they would never consider using nuclear weapons to begin with because it would provide no advantage at all.

Grand Hobgoblonia still does not have nuclear weapons and will not consider possessing nuclear weapons until those weapons may possibley provide a considerable advantage, which perhaps they might when there are no nuclear weapons in the UN. Surely, being an open minded liberty loving nation (my assumption), you can attempt to see from another's perspective, and see how an oppressive or aggressive nation would think of nuclear weapons in this light?

Assertively,
Prime Minister Baragh IV,
Loyal Servant to the One True Monarch
of the Holy Empire of Grand Hobgoblonia

I wasn't so much arguing with you as I was making fun of the UN that we all happen to be a member of. I understand fully both sides of the nuclear posture, which is why I will always advocate careful control of nuclear weapons, but via their delivery systems. Very rarely do bans work, and we know that.
