Please approve this proposal, just submitted today. It returns the United Nations to the way it should be.

Declaration of UN Sovereignty
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: The Furtherment of Democracy Strength: Strong Proposed by: Feline

Description:

DEEPLY DISTURBED that the resolution "Rights and Duties of UN States" severely limits the power of the United Nations. It restricts the type of resolutions the United Nations can pass. It decreases political freedoms in the interest of "stability."

ALARMED by the decrease in political freedoms in our nations
severely limits the power of the United Nations. It restricts the type of resolutions the United Nations can pass.

DECLARES ACCORDINGLY the followly standards:
1. Repeal the resolution "Rights and Duties of UN States."
2. Re-instate any and all resolutions, especially "Citizen Rule Required" canceled by the resolution "Rights and Duties of UN States."
2. Reaffirm complete and absolute UN sovereignty over member states.
3. State that any state within the UN who does not accept this complete and absolute UN sovereignty should either accept it out leave the United Nations.

The Holy Empire of Gethamane will not be approving or voting in favor of this proposal.

Judging from the wording in "Rights and Duties of UN States," it's purpose was to limit the resolutions the UN can pass because all nations have a right to national sovereignty.

Even if Feline does not believe in national sovereignty, many member-nations do, including the Holy Empire of Gethamane.

As for the quibbling that seems compulsory whenever a proposal is brought to the General Assembly:

1) Gethamane has been under the impression that no resolution can be repealed.

2) "Citizen Rule Required" is not necessarily rendered impotent by "Rights and Duties of UN States." We understand how it could be, but if any government cannot come to a compromise on the matter, they can always resign from the UN, as there are precious few other choices.

3) What would be the point of having a nation if it is going to be ruled for you?

4) I think it is implied in membership that all member-states should either "accept it OR leave the United Nations." And occasionally they do.

Finally, this proposal seems to favor the exchange of National Political Freedoms for UN Political Freedoms. So this proposal, in essence, suggests that governments give up all of their power in exchange for precisely 1/38562 of their power (the number of member-nations capable of voting), and less if you count the extra votes granted to regional delegates.

And another nation signs its own eviction note from the UN.

And another nation signs its own eviction note from the UN.

A shame too to see a nation that has posted over 1,000 times make this kind of mistake.

Just a reminder to new nations: please read the policies concerning submitting proposals. They should be stickied above.

Furthmore, if anybody is thinking about submitting a proposal, many of us are willing to give you friendly and constructive advice if you post a DRAFT here first. By friendly and constructive, we aren't going to insult you (at least until you insult us first) nor are we going to throw away a good idea because of grammar and spelling. The point of the UN is to work together, and we can best accomplish this by discussing proposals before they enter the queue.

And to those new nations in question, if the help you're after is more in a "game sense", rather than a "resolution wording sense", drop me a telegram. I'll be able to tell you with complete accuracy whether that wonderful proposal of yours is going to be deleted or not.

*returns to his work on the Precedent Database of the UN, which won't end up being posted here*

Indeedy, And anyway, at the end of the day the entire game mechanics issues means the U.N. will ultimately retain its abilities, as it will still be able to pass proposals. The only true deciding factor is mods limiting what can by posted as a proposal. Which I thank god for,

(Yes, I am athiest, which we're going to ignore to make the turn of phrase work, people, )

As with-out monitoring I fear the U.N. would be back logged in an awful amount of text type poop-y.

Can'ya dig it?

1. Repeal the resolution "Rights and Duties of UN States."

And there goes that proposal into the bin! And along with the continued membership of feline in this organisation, I wager...

Shut the door on your way out please.
