Ethics?

11-03-2004, 23:05
To everyone who continues bringing up such ethical topics as abortion and gay marriage:

As much as I (and probably many other national reps) appreciate attempting to debate these ethical topics and having our ideas ignored, I feel it is time we deal with real issues, like the environment or peacekeeping. Considering that no one listens to each other in suuch ethical debates, but choose to keep their own opinion, it would save us all a lot of breath if these issues would stop presenting themselves to the UN. If you wish to continue discussing such topics, might I suggest the NationStates Forum? Or a telegram conversation between two nations? These issues hardly qualify for this forum, and as long as everyone has their own set-in-stone opinion, we won't change anyone's minds, merely piss them off when democracy tells them that they are wrong.

Good point, though I don't see how the N.S. U.N. could engage in "peacekeeping". But, eh, I am just gonna act like it was a example... whcih it was... eh.... :? Where am I?

(Shrugs)

On the upside Vivelo II, I rather enjoy those debates, its nice to always be right...

(Ducks waves of abuse from others)

See?

Particularly, the Gay Marriage issue should stay out of the UN, as it has (I'm going to pre-empt Komokom here) already been voted upon, and as such cannot be changed. No appeals, no word changes.

Nice to know if I drop dead... Or get *too* addicted to Battle Cruiser Millenium, Gold Play, which I just purchased, that common sense goes on.
