The Third Day Off

A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights
Strength: Significant
Proposed by: Higher Intellects

Description: I purpose that all primary and secoundary schools require students to be off on Wednesdays as well as the usual weekends. This of course will shorten summer hoildays by about 30 days. However by allowing this to go through it would very benifical for the intelligence of the UN. The following resons are:

1. It is common knowledge, as well as studies tell us that the brain performs much better on good sleep. Allowing kids to sleep in an extra day will improve overall grades.

2. Relief of stress from students, with Wednesday off they can complete assignments and homework with less stress. As well, less stress equals better grades.

3. In the long run, the students under the "the third day off" rule will be more intellegent then the ones before them. Reason being you can retian more information on a well rested brain.

4. Lastly, the UN educational system will reach levels never thought of, and will be well and above non UN nations. Thus strengthening the UN as a whole when compared to the rest of the world.

This has 'not a matter for the UN' written all over it.

Students in the Imperial Military Academies and Preparatory Academies do not receive "days off" except when granted home leave during training cycles. Furthermore, the Empire does not employ the seven-day Gregorian week, but rather uses a metric calendar with ten days per metric week, so this proposal would not apply to cadets in our nation.

By eck, what a daft idea, Bahgumian kids go to school at t'weekends(which they consider a day off) and evenings. During weekdays, we use them to crawl down tight spaces in coal mines. It's good for their constitution, and disciplines the little blighters too. Saves a fortune in childcare and social costs. We are not having our children irresponsibly hanging around for one day a week, never mind three.
Next thing you'll be telling us that banishing sulking teenagers to offshore islands until they've grown up should be stopped.....

Now having a longer than 10 day Bahgumian week by inserting extra school days specifically for exams, hard maths, cross country running, triple physics and chemistry studies would be a much better idea.

Summer holidays? why would we want kids around, making a noise in summer?? There's coal to be dug....
