A Unified World
A resolution to reduce barriers to free trade and commerce.

Category: Free Trade Strength: Strong Proposed by: Kournikovia
Description: I hereby propose that we, the citizens of this planet Earth, join forces to become one government. This government, the United Nations of Earth (UNE), would be like nothing else ever seen on Earth. It would be a confederation, so all “Nation States” would be considered states of the UNE, and like all confederations the States would have more power the central government, but all states would be unified by the central government. For this to work all nations would be required to join, so a majority vote will be needed. After this passes all nations will be considered part of the UNE, for those nations that choose to rebel, a UNE Peace Keeping Team will be sent to restore order. The good points of this unified world are that there are no international laws or anything else to go through, so all our scientists can work together to further the cause of medicine and other scientific and technological advances. This would also bring a universal education, all peoples of Earth would have the same basic education and have the same chance in life, as well as the same educational options. The government would also bring about a unified economy, making life easier all around the UNE, plus it would virtually mean the end of poverty in poor countries because they would all be apart of a stronger economy. I also propose that the UNE have an official language, now this language would not be required to be known by everyone (all nations can keep their own languages) but it would make having a unified government easier by having one official language at the higher levels. This language would be made using a culmination of all languages of Earth; it would be made to be both beautiful and easy to learn. The UNE would work closely with the ISI and the proposed UNSC to further the space program. The UNE believes heavily in the space program and hopes to further the cause of colonization and exploration of other worlds, it is this that the UNE believes is its and the human race’s future. This would also bring about a unified military, which would be primarily defensive, since there would be no point in an offensive military at this point, this would lead to terrorism being easily fought and the end of aggressive nations, as well as all nations being equally protected. The UN would be the highest government in the land that way the UN can really get things done instead of just making suggestions. My final proposal is that since the UN is the highest government in the land that it be located in GAT City (the Washington DC of the UNE if you will) located in the GAT region. The UN itself would be located in the beautiful Pantheon of GAT.

That is a lot of words for one paragraph.

I believe this counts as a ‘game mechanics’ resolution.

but who gets to decide what language that is. how can it be easy for everyone to learn. you can't force people to join a confederation. and as we have seen with the united states as a confederacy before it became a unified nation and the confedercy of the american civil war, the UNE wouldn't have the recources to to do all this stuff. in a confederacy where the states have more power than the national government they have no way of collecting taxes to biuld a military to force other nations to join.

simply not practical.

your idea would only work in a perfect world, which this is not.

The position of the Republic of Colony States (RCS) is to oppose this measure. The premise that a large, unified government is good for economic growth is simply flawed. A unified world government would promote conformity rather than diversity, and it is diversity that fuels vigorous trade between regions. As for the language matter, there is already a universally understood language: economics. The various furniture remodellers and cheese exporters of the RCS enjoy a robust international trade without needing a single world government or a world language. The matter of a unified language was tried once before with Esperanto, and that was a huge failure. Less government intervention, not more, is the ture need for a healthy and stable economy. With wealth in abundance, all the social issues this proposal hopes to remedy may be addressed by the individual nations in the manner that best fits their particular needs. Remember that each nation has a unique set of needs and talents. Conformity as this proposal wihses is not only undesireable, but completely impossible.

Bahgum will never surrender it's sovereignty, we could end up with those southern wimpy folk having a say in our lives, and that will never do for a proud Northern nation. Anyway, our pies are not for other nations.

No nation would vote yes for this because they like their power, secondly everyone would hate you and thirdly the proposal will be deleted because it changes game mechanics

The fourth reason would be no true leftwing region would vote for a resolution that claims to be about unifying the world when what it really is a way to "reduce barriers to free trade and commerce".

This should of been about the promotion of democracy not another way to boost your economy.

This is sad attempt at a resolution is stupid, pointless, and a waste of space. First and foremost, it cannot be passed because it completely changes the game and therefore will be eliminated as was wisely pointed out by Emperor Matthuis. Secondly, all you are trying to do is tear down borders for free trade. What should have been done, is for you to make a strong free trade resolution for all UN nations(which I would oppose). Third, this bill is unachievable. How will you force countries to come together? If they refuse will you go to war with them? Even if you do achieve this UN supercountry, it would be constantly ravaged by civil war. All the different ethnicities that you will have forced to come together will start to kill eachother.

... and how boring will your world be?

Please take a minute to look at different regions inside your world. And also compare different regions inside some others nations. Nothing is the same between regions.

When inequality exists between regions inside one existing nation, how should it be possible to create one nation, world-wide, where there is no inequality?

I, the delegate of the Left Wing Utopia, disapprove of your proposal and the statements you make within. When needed, I shall vote against.
