Which Issue is a Priority for Your Nation?

So, with so many different debates / discussions / proposals floating around, I'm curious as to which topic or subject area is a priority right now for your nations?

In the short-term, my government would like to see work continue on better defining the role of the UN. We think that once this topic is closer to a consensus that other discussions can focus less on the mechanics and role of the UN and instead on a course of action.

In the long-term, the recent proposals related to international shipping and genetic research seem like sound ideas.

On a related note, what happened to the proposal to Ban Child Soldiers? I thought I didn't see it in the proposal queue? If not, my government would be interested in seeing the DRAFT proposal return for discussion, assuming that other nations are interested.

Hmm, for me, minimal taxes, minimal government, but maximum liberty and freedom. =)

For My nation, I'd have to say a continued strong economy, Strong civil rights and a Voice on the World Stage via the UN.

My nation is currently attempting to lower taxes while trying to maintain it's high level of social services. It's a daunting task, but we do our best.

Lubria's first priority has, and always will be, education. We consider a well educated populace to be the antidote to many of society's problems. We are committed to making our educated population Lubria's gift to the world. While we consider our taxes to be too high at the moment, we are exploring ways to lower them, while maintaining our highly effective educational system.

We have made many sacrifices to assure that our education system is a model for others. Most noticeable, we have given up the majority of our military infrastructure. Our crime rate is very low considering our small police force. We attribute this to our well educated populace.

An educated populace is the best defense against crime, hatred, and most important, government corruption.

Expanding our Information Technology sector, lowering taxes, and improving education are our primary concerns.

We've suceeded in maintaining a huge economy despite a near 50% tax rate. Priority for us is to try and lower these taxes, and possibly to increase political freedoms.

For my small nation it is the Environment and still being able to function economically.

So far we are succeeding with a Fair Economy and definately our many lush forests which cover our country sides.

Our peoples goal is to be a great nation, but not at the risk, demise, or endangering of another species.

Good military, education and a great economy, civil rights...i keep them low, so i guess i'm a Dictator

Cannibalism is the #1 priority for the Empire of Zombidom. We can only eat so many of our own citizens. If we could institute a 'minimum 4 children rule,' that would help the cause dramatically.

Bahgums priorities are pies and t'pub. After this, we feel that the uninvited infliction of frivolity into overly serious debates is also important.
Our current national concern which needs attention is just what to do about mothers in law.....difficult and dangerous.....

The Principality of Enn's goals are for peace, both intra-region and international. The Council of Enn also makes Education and Health priorities, while businesses effectively haves to pull their own weight.
Carlemnaria

in carlemnaria environment always comes first because ultimately everything else depends on it, however circularly self servingly monetarism may try to deny this.

second: only the well being of everyliving thing within its borders justifies the existence of any soverign nation, whatever its makeup or form. (this encompasses such areas as education and infrastructure as well as such things as food, shelter and healthcare, even parks and libraries. not all infrastructure is of equal neccessity however. transportation (NONautomotive!), data communication, and energy are primal)

everything else, of neccessity comes third

(the primary objective of international relations is of course to create and maintain a viable, equatable and sustainable peace)

For Moontian, our priorities right now are education, state of the economy, and political freedom.

Socialism, mostly.

At the moment, my country's number one goal is building an economy strong enough to support our disproportionately large military. Those who are familiar with my nation even in the slightest know how difficult that is for us.

When we're not desperately trying to build our economy, we throw a few bones to civil rights.

We're working on un-banning private enterprise and significantly lowering taxes, whilst improving our public healthcare (supposed to be fairly socialist, but looked at the rankings today and our healthcare is some of the worst in the world  ). However, have no idea how to fix the situation with private enterprise
22-02-2004, 16:36
Hmmm. Well, while this is a game, I want to take it at least semi-seriously.

I created my nation as a parody of all that is wrong with the US of A, my home in real life. Now, I'm struggling to improve my nation, and bring it up in the world.

More issues with greater impact on my people's condition in life would be good.

But, I'm patient. I'm sure that I'll see more issues sooner or later.

My nation-state's top prioty is the military and the economy. A good military is key to having a good powerful country. You must protect your own turf before you can protect others. Everyone when they turn 18 in my nation-state has to serve atleast four years in the military. We feel it gives them preparation for life by teaching them the nation-state comes first not them. Whatever is good for the nation-state is good for the rest. A strong powerful military will help the economy so a strong military and a strong economy go hand and hand. Take from this what you wish but for a powerful nation you need a strong economy and military.

For the United Socialist States of Resistencia (USSR), the most important issues are defense and civil liberties. These are followed by healthcare and education.

Here is a list of the USSR's top 5 priorities:
1.) Civil Liberties
2.) Defense/Military
3.) Education
4.) Healthcare
5.) Economy

Mikitivity: I agree that the UN has more work to do on it, do you have any ideas of what need to be done?
