The region A Van Down by the River, has submitted a proposal that would require food labels to accurately describe the contents, so that, for example, buffalo wings would have to be removed from flying buffalos.

Granted, this is not the sort of proposal that the Real World UN would ever consider -- but the proposal does poke at how easily integrity is defaced in the name of Marketing.

Furthermore, my region feels the NationStates UN would be improved by adding more humor!

Proper Labeling of Foods

A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.

Description: WHEREAS food names today are often misleading and do not correctly state what is being sold or served, and

WHEREAS such blatant commercial obfuscation and deception is ripping apart the integrity in our societies, teaching our children to lie, encouraging adults to substitute euphemisms for truth, and confusing grocery shoppers who actually stop to think about what is written on labels,

THEREFORE the peoples of A Van Down by the River submit for UN approval this resolution requiring all foods to be exactly what they are called. To wit:

* All hot dogs are to be made from dogs
* All buffalo wings are to be made from buffalo
* All bleu cheese dressing must be colored blue
* Chicken fingers and fish fingers must be actual fingers from said creatures, and so would be a rare delicacy
* Shepherds pie and bloody mary drinks would be illegal, as they would contain minced shepherds and blood from Mary, respectively
* Mountain Dew would have to identify the mountain from which dew was taken

And the list goes on!

UN Representatives will monitor the grocery shelves and restaurant menus of all member nations to ensure that this resolution is being enforced. Nations not in compliance will be subjected to regular over flights of buffalo who have not yet donated their wings for appetizers.

I thought buffalo were a protected species. Well it's not like they faced extinction anyway.
