A Brief Announcement

19-02-2004, 20:13
If members will permit this indulgence:

My name is G.P. Punkachu, I am in your rather quaintly primitive terms the "leader" of Albion (subject to instant recall of course). I would just like to inform the halls that John Marat will be retiring from public life. We've decided to send him into space. Or possibly a a deep mine shaft. We haven't quite decided.

Thank you, go about your business.

This isn't really an issue for the UN. I think you want Nationstates or International Incidents.

On the contrary, we would argue that all regular attendees of the UN forums will be most intrigued by this news.
A hastily convened referendum among the free peoples of East Hackney recommended that the memorable John Marat be fired from a cannon into the heart of the sun, although a sizeable minority considered that dropping Mr Marat into a scorpion pit would be a fitting fate. We await his eventual fate with much anticipation.

Like it - that'll give the pigeons something to aim for.

Good riddance, commie.

The announcemnent was given careful consideration. We thought that while unorthodox, because other UN members were unfortunate enough to cross paths with cde Marat, then a brief announcement, which did not detract from UN business, would be in order.

Nibbleton can rest assured that any further developments in the retirement of cde Marat will take place in full in the Nation States forum and not here.

Yours Pompously,

G.P. Punkachu.

Who will be replacing him?

Who will be replacing him?

Possibly a broom. The member for Ithuania may rest assured that said broom will be a communist broom. Incidently, should a statue to cde Marat be erected, I have provided a picture for reference:

Rest assured that the free peoples of East Hackney will not miss Cde Marat. And, if we do, we have plenty of ammunition for another shot.

Amongst much dancing and rejoicing, the delegation from Bahgum take time out from training their ferrets, to throw open the UN doors and lay out a banquet in honour of the departing Comrade Marat.
A fine spread, of best Bahgumian fayre, meat & tato pies as big as your head, crumbly cheese, hotpot, mushy peas and great big cream cakes with so many calories they have been outlawed in most nations. All told at least 15 herds of camels worth!
All delegates are invited to enjoy, and Bahgum will even indulge vegetarians their need to look sniffily at our pies and feel superior, without comment. Some of us liked John, some of us maybe not so much, but lets have a party anyhow!

The Bahgum delegation hope that during the feast, they will have the opportunity of discussing the possibility of moving Bahgum to a smaller more friendly, UN discussing region, as they have grown tired of the size of the East Pacific and the immaturity contained therein.
